    Hi there.

New user here. Only had my DM7025 for a week so go gentle.

I'm trying to get CrossEPG working on my box. I have installed and been able to run the download. Switches to EGP channel and downloads data, converts the database according to the messages. GUI reboots and everything looks good but when I go to the EPG page, it's the standard EPG showing with only whats on now and what is up next.

    I'm running Gemini2 4.40.

I've had a look at the settings and not sure if the epg.dat file is named correctly and where the EPG would be looking for it. Is there a log file somewhere that would shed some light on what is happening?

    Many thanks.

If you have an Enigma2 box if you install it from the instructions it will give you a full 7 day EPG. Unlike the E2 loadepg that i posted here several months ago this version supports all HD channels.

It's also a little easier to install and setup than E2_loadepg. Should work pretty much out of the box. Let me know.

Hi, thanks for the info. Do you know if the plugin will run under Linux PC with Enigma 2 installed? I might go that way if it works and maybe create xmltv files so it can be used on other platforms?

    Cheers.

    Hi,
I read somewhere (google search on Linux PC enigma2) that you can have this done. Thinking about doing this and stick DVBS card to my server, set up streaming/recording server with epg. That's in consideration for now...
    Cheers

PS, how acurate are those xmltv files from Oztivo?

I have a bit more info.

I seem to be getting the download successfully but when I edit enigma2.sh file with the correct info, rebooting the GUI locks up and I cannot do anything other than hit the main power switch. When switching back on, the system locks up shortly after "starting enigma" screen appears.
I have to reflash the unit to get the box working again.

Moving the epg.dat file manually to the hdd where the standard epg.dat seems to reside does not work either. Have specified location in settings also.

I have just tried Pli image to see if there was any difference but it does the exact same thing.

Is there any other info or files I can supply to help solve this problem? It's driving me crazy!!

I would rate them at 85% - 90% which is the best we have at the moment..
I am aware of efforts to get even better ones going but that is a little way off ..

    Hey blade.

Did you have problems with it locking your box up or did you have another problem?

What did you have to do to get it working?

Do you have a swap file active?
    Cheers.

I didnt realise that you had to go into mainmenu /setup /crossepg and configure it.(that will get it to download guide).

    Then edit /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh
Mine looks like this edit path to suit yours

    #!/bin/sh
    HOME=`echo $0 | sed "s/crossepg_epgmove\.sh//"`

    if [ -f "$HOME/crossepg.config" ] # if configuration exist
    then
    DBROOT=`cat $HOME/crossepg.config | grep db_root= | sed "s/db_root=//"`
    else # else default path
    DBROOT="/media/hda1/crossepg"
    fi

    if [ -f "$DBROOT/ext.epg.dat" ] # try on configuration path
    then
    echo copying ext.epg.dat from $DBROOT
    $HOME/crossepg_epgcopy "$DBROOT/ext.epg.dat" /media/hda1/gemini.epg.dat
elif [ -f "/media/hda1/crossepg/ext.epg.dat" ] # if we have a bad path try with default path
    then
    echo copying gemini.epg.dat from /media/hda1/crossepg/
    $HOME/crossepg_epgcopy /media/hda1/crossepg/ext.epg.dat /media/hda1/gemini.epg.dat

    else # no epg found
    echo ext.epg.dat not found
    fi

    Then edit /usr/bin/enigma2.sh
this is were in inserted the line /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh
I put it under scripte like this-

    #Scripte
    /usr/script/syslogd_script.sh restart
    [ ! -e /proc/fs/nfsd/exports ] && /usr/script/nfs_server_script.sh start
    /usr/script/inadyn_script.sh start
    /usr/script/httpd_script.sh start
    /usr/script/djmount_script.sh start
    /usr/script/ushare_script.sh start
    /usr/script/crond_script.sh restart
    /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh start

In blue panel under settings EPG
    i have media hwy (on)
    Cachefile (on).

    Then all should be well
Also noticed crossepg updates all channel guides not just whats in your favorites like loadepg.
    Post back how you go.
    Cheers

    Thanks for that reply.

I'll give it a go over the weekend and see if I can get it to work.

Being a newbie to Linux AND Dreambox, I've found myself out of my depth. I'm loving it but it's driving me nuts all at the same time. Help like this is greatly appreciated.

Will post back how I get on with it.
    Cheers.

    Ok.

    Got to the same point.

Did a fresh flash install of Gemini 4.40. Installed CrossEPG, configured it following all your details. The program downloads and converts the information. Everything works untill I enter the info in /usr/bin/enigma2.sh. That's when things fall apart.

After entering that info, I do a GUI reboot and the GUI locks up. I can still telnet into the linux system and run command line but that is it.

CrossEPG seems to be working fine. The gemini.epg.dat file gets moved to the correct location but the GUI refuses to load after.

    Any ideas or clues?
    Cheers

Accessing it by telnet, I was able to restart the GUI by running /usr/bin/enigma2 but the background image is missing. Also EPG has no data either.

Is there a log file somewhere that would shed any light on this problem? I'm sorry but I don't know what info/data to give you.

    Did you install this version????
    crossepg-enigma2_0.3.2-svn-33_mipsel.ipk
and how did you install it???

Did you also place the line
    /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh start
in the same location as mine in enigma2.sh file.

Lastly in the /crossepg_epgmove.sh file did you check your file locations as mine may be different to yours as my hard drive location used to be /media/hdd.
    But now is /media/hda1

Yes, I installed that exact version. Transferred file to hdd via ftp, used telnet to install via command ipkg install crossepg-enigma2_0.3.2-svn-33_mipsel.ipk. No errors came back during install.
Entered the line in enigma2.sh in the same location as you have. Made sure file atributes were 755. Path to epg.dat in crossepg_epgmove.sh is correct for my setup.

I have read somewhere about missing data in the EPG ( eg. holes in the EPG data ) causing a similar lockup that I am experiencing. Just don't know how or what to do to fix it.

Am going to try and concentrate on that aspect now. Thing that annoys me is, once I enter the details in enigma2.sh, the lockup occurs but it must corrupt something else. Even after removing the extra line in enigma2.sh, I still cannot start the GUI. Forces a reflash to get the thing working again.

Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated.

Your box is it a dm7025 or dm7025 plus?????????????
I havent tried it from fresh install on mine as mine has had many things loaded, but i guess i could try it on mine as you may be missing something.
I use dcc (dreambox control centre) copy file to /tmp
Then via blue panel file browse find the file select it and press green buton to install.

It's a 7025 (not plus). Tried it again by installing it via software manager on the Dreambox. Still same problem. I have tried it on various images (PLi, Gemini, Oozoon, LT) with exactly the same result.

I have sent a message to the creator of CrossEPG. Hopefully he will reply with some idea on what is going wrong.

Cheers. Will post pack if I get it working.

I have done a full reinstall of gemini 440 and tried my hardest to make it lockup like yours but it works perfect.
    My install was this
    -flashed image
    -booted to wizard selected English
    -configured ethernet (dhcp)
    -telenet crossepg file to /tmp
-loaded crossepg via blue panel filemanager
-Added line /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh start to enigma.sh file under #Scripte
    -rebooted box
At this stage i haven't added lnb or scanned channels etc and box fires up no problem, i did notice if i went into menu /setup/crossepg and went yes to optus c1,and tried to save it without haveing scanned channels it would crash the box.
But once i configured my lnb and channels it didnt crash as it had channels to scan.
_lastly i updated my /usr/crossepg/crossepg_epgmove.sh which i copied what i pasted here from earlier post straight to file.

Guess what it all works perfect so i,m not sure whats wrong with yours.

One thing that happened to me when i switched from gemini 430 to 440 i copied my saved enigma2.sh file over from 430 which had my loadepg info in it and i found same as you it wouldnt boot so there not compatible.

What are you editing your enigma2.sh file with maybe its not saveing it correctly or corrupting it.
    Cheers

Thanks for putting the work in on that.

Got an email back from the creator of CrossEPG. Turns out the reason for my problems was my inexperience with Linux. I was using an FTP program with a text editor that was not Unix compatible. As a result, that was corrupting my sh file.

Have just edited it in DCC as you suggested and all seems well. Haven't actually checked to see if the EPG is showing yet. Will check that later.

    Again, thanks for your help.
    Cheers.
