Default linksys in client mode with ddwrt

    Hi guys,
    I need some help here.
I bought this new linksys wl-520gc to make it access point in client mode to provide the internet connection from my speedtouch 584 v6 wifi adsl/router to my dm500s.
I have flashed the linksys with ddwrt firmware. and followed the instruction as in .
    But no luck ,
i can't ping the wifi router from a pc connected to this linksys with a ethernet cable.
    my speedtouch ip is: 192.168.1.254
    linksys is : 192.168.2.2
it's on different segment, may be that is a problem.but the above instruction tells me it has to be on the different segment.the pc connected wired to asus get dhcp ip like 192.168.2.200.
but i am not getting internet from speedtouch .
    thanks
    Ram

Give a static ip to your wl-520gc and point the gateway to your router.
Your router and client box need to be on the same sub-net too.
if you router is 192.168.1.254 make your wl-529gc to 192.168.1.10 with a gatewau 192.168.1.254. Your router should be static ip too.

I gather you have the same wireless security on both and have tried to "Join" the router in the wrt-software.

yeah i have put the ssid and wpa key same in both the routers.how do i join the router in asus?
or should i use client bridge mode as mentioned in this:

In either mode, you have a primary router and a secondary router. In wireless client mode, devices connected to the secondary router are contained within their own subnet, separate from the subnet for devices connected to the primary router. You don’t want this.

In wireless bridge mode, all devices connected to either router are contained within one happy unified subnet – as if they were all connected to a single router. This is good.

client mode and is a tab where you can find local wireless network. Then when you find it you can join it. I dont have one in front of me at the moment.

    gado,
but with the client mode.my dreambox will have different ip address in different subnet then my primary router.is that right?
what if i want dm500s to pick up dhcp address from speedtouch ,not linksys?

    I use static for everything.
The dreambox will be on the same subnet. The gateway of the dreambox will be that of the router. If you had dhcp in you would only have it on one device.

i am really confuesed between client mode and bridge mode?
as far as i understand ,with client mode, limitation is that wired connected client to the linksys will be on different segment and can;t talk to the device connected to the sppedtouch.
    am i right?
but with bridge mode, all devices will get dhcp address as if they were connected to the speedtouch
