    Default Network issues with Limewire????

    Hello,

For a very long time now I have noticed that when a computer in my home network runs Limewire, the performance of the network decreases to a non workable point. It does not matter who in the family runs Limewore the result is the same. all other network activity just dies till limewire is stopped. Limewire doesnt even need to me downloading anything.

I have searched for a cause but just can not seem to see anyone else having similar issues.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

Knowing Limewire, it's probably spyware & trojans hijacking your bandwith. :P

Read up on QoS, if your router supports it you can assign bandwidth quotas to different types of traffic.

    Nope, AVG.

I thought it was a internal Denial of Service issue, which points to the suggestion about Limewires built in Trogans !!!!

    in limewire,tools,options,advanced,firewall config
set the router configuration to - do nothing
    see if that helps.

I had already done that. downloaded limewire pro latest and while watching my torrent downloading machine on a seperate monitor I started limewire and started a download and as the sun rises in the east, the torrent transfers wnt to zero while the limewire download went to anoy 18K/s. as soon as limewire download stopped, torrent fired up again. Strange as I can normally handle close to 30+ K/s on my 256/64 link.

    Thanks for looking in
