That dish and lnb should be fine. There is a tuning channel on 12326 H 28800 3/4.

Because Select TV is on Intelsat-8
and i dont want to move my existing dish, I was wondering if my old 90cm dish might be used instead. for me this would give me a great opp to learn some things that most take for granted.
I will have a look at the dish specs later today and fill in the specifics that you may need to assist (one assumes LNB??? select recommend a KU Band 11.3GHz LNB ) it may in fact be no good as it has been sitting under cover outside for years. and had a few moves so maybe a few knocks and bumps
I did originally ask here if it was good for anything and was told it was not. back in 2006 if memory serves
then, obviously If the first piece of the hardware (dish) is ok I need to align it,
taking into account I have a DM500 is there anything on there that I could use to get a signal from Intelsat-8 so I know I am then able to purchase this package. in the same way as TVSN is on f0x. ie.. align/scan/and view

If you have the right equipment (i'm guessing not) and the dish you use is big enough you could install another lnb on the same dish for intelsat 8. For example i have a 65cm dish and I have two lnbs - main one pointing to optus c1 and the other one i installed pointing to intelsat 8. That way you can avoid having two satellite dishes.
An 11300 LNB will work fine for selectv, providing it's in good working order of course.
A 90cm dish should also be ok for two LNB's.
Personally, I'd allign the dish for best signal results on IS8 and make C1 the secondary, as the C1 signals are stronger than those on IS8.

I'd like to mount a 2nd dish (as I wish to have a go) i have some hair left so willing to pull some out - in the name of learning. there are several threads pertaining to this very venture.... my good goodness!
Its a 90cm dish with an Acer LNB model AF2-A (did a google search and 1st/2nd/3rd post was (on ya's!)
freq 12.25 - 12.75ghz
lo 11.30 ghz (so the lnb is ok)
problem is, the (not sure what you call it so I'll use the term) "end cap" has either deteriorated or fallen off? (read its not there).
What part in the process does the end cap play?

I'm like you puca, the receiver in the garage is run by a lnb with no cover....mine has glad wrap and a rubber band...still running, although I have to change the rubber band once in a while..lol
Also, my main gear is run on a 4 way diseqc....it is in an ice cream container too.
