DVD remote freezes HD box.

My God Knows what Brand DVD player($34) from Sam's Warehouse/Clints/Reject shop Remote control freezes the pic on the Healing HD stb when you press the Open/Close tray button.
The UP/Down buttons changes the channels, one at a time, the OK shows the channel listing.I havent tried every combination as yet.
This Healing is the HHT 892 HD model with the IR extension.
The Healing Remote doesnt appear to effect the DVD player, at least not that I have seen so far.

Considering all the remotes I have had and do have now, this is the first one that has operated any functions on another devise.

When it happened the first time, I turned around 5 times and threw the big lounge over my Right shoulder out of the window as I thought I had been Hexed.
When it happened a second time, the missus said that I would have to chuck meself out as no more furniture was to go.
So I took the hint and found out it is the remote.
Its not convenient to relocate either devise so all I can think of is to locate/turn the IR extension out of the line of the DVD remote.
