ok guys like i said other posts here is the mod that i have done to my card reader.

items u need are:-

Diode IN4004 1A
Resistor 20ohm 1/2 WATT

you have to also lift the 3rd leg on the ic chip.

this should drop voltage to 3.2V or so.

Why would you want to drop the volts down to 3.2 or so???
Isn`t that abit to low? I`ve dropped my humax 5400Z to 4.4V and the whitey has been in it for 2 days now and isn`t even thinking of getting hot.
Also what is the deal with lifting the 3rd leg on the ic chip?

Thanks for the reply, just want to find out all the how to and why`s before my unit arrives here. Isn`t 3.2v abit low?

I might try the factory firmware rather than the 'p'. I guess you lose the ability to enter keys directly for Aurora, but you can use a goldie..

ive used a aurora goldie on this mod and it work no probs.

as for the voltage drop being 3.2 u can change that by simply using a lower resistor like a 10 ohm would bring it to aroun 4v.

just a warning guys, once u finish the mod put the box back together then try the card, i actually fried a card in this experiment.

do this mod at your own risk.

card was in reader while putting the screws in place WHILE power was on, yes i know its silly.

Do a voltage drop to around 4 to 4.5volts and it should be fine.

the card i was talking about frying is working again, min was right 3.2v was too low so i put a 10ohm resistor instead and it worked again.

maybe we should start discussing things here as the overheating thread is getting too many posts to keep up with. please keep your post just to do with strong.

there is also a humax thread by "min" it will be easier to keep track on each thread.
