No guarantee it works on encrypted video here in Australia though.
Un-encrypted is OK using +extract only. Of what use that is, rofl.

The easiest way for me is to simply remove the drive from the IQ, place it in a SunBright or Welland cradle (mine takes both IDE and SATA) once seen by your Computer I then use Xilisoft Media Toolkit Ultimate to convert the .str files (these are actualy MPegIV Ipod or PSP files) Xilisoft will convert them to whatever format you want - I use AVI.
Once completed simply reinsert the drive back into the IQ.
The bloody cover is never securely on with my unit

    Xilisoft is available

yes, but, the Transport Stream files from the IQ are still encrypted. You need to play them back through the CAM/Card of the IQ to get pictures. Just extracting them from the hard drive wont give you a viewable picture. Or so it has been posted here before?

The IQ is designed to provide maximum copy right protection. Recordings are encrypted and won’t playback without the card.

If you need to do this often consider investing in a 3rd party PVR. Newer HD’s are working with fox’s sub card and are fully transparent. You can upload via the Ethernet Network connection or via USB 2.0. and all the recordings are decrypted.
