Did you bother to use the forums SEARCH function?
Does any one know how to download at high speed from a Foxtel IQ box hard drive?

come on now vk6xlr.....fair go for the newbie
so does that tell me where the answer is? yeah i did spend a while looking around before i asked that question. saw some discussion about foxtel IQ boxes. So since you know how this site works...
The easiest way for me is to simply remove the drive from the IQ, place it in a SunBright or Welland cradle (mine takes both IDE and SATA) once seen by your Computer I then use Xilisoft Media Toolkit Ultimate to convert the .str files (these are actualy MPegIV Ipod or PSP files) Xilisoft will convert them to whatever format you want - I use AVI.
Once completed simply reinsert the drive back into the IQ.
The bloody cover is never securely on with my unit
Xilisoft is available

thanks all that puts me in the right direction
The IQ is designed to provide maximum copy right protection. Recordings are encrypted and won’t playback without the card.
If you need to do this often consider investing in a 3rd party PVR. Newer HD’s are working with fox’s sub card and are fully transparent. You can upload via the Ethernet Network connection or via USB 2.0. and all the recordings are decrypted.
