Default GPS Help - Tomtom one V3 UK - 1Gb, no SD

    Hey guys,

Firstly great forum. Wonder if someone could help me, have a bit of a strange query.

I am from England and am visiting Australia on a 12 month holiday visa and am hoping to bring my tomtom one V3 but I am a bit stuck on how to add the maps. I bought this tomtom in Canada on a recent holiday (was the same cost as it would to rent the device) so it has the US/Canada maps.

I have just installed Tomtom home and backed up the GPS and removed the Us/Canada maps, all using tomtom home. I have read through the sticky and I am still a bit stumped.

I have downloaded Australia_830_2290 (not through tomtom) and when I try to add this using Home it does not appear. Do I need to copy the files to a particular directory on the device? I have also downloaded Western_Europe maps just to try and confirm this is working however I am having the same trouble.

I will continue fiddling with it but if someone could shed some light that would be great.

    many thanks

A backup through Home is most likely incomplete.
To add the new map (I would suggest the 830.2352) you need to copy the map files to a folder on your device.
Run to patch map and system files -a help is included.
The 830.2352 map can be found in the Fullbackup thread.

    Hey, thanks for the help.

I 'think' I've managed to do it after following your guide/downloads. I have Ran easy activator and easy use tool on the Australia_8.30.2305 download. I have then copied the map into the main tomtom directory on the device. The map now shows in home as a map on the device, however I cant confirm it works as I am still in the UK!

Do you know of anywhere I can find UK maps to confirm all is working?

    Thanks again

To follow up, I have just turned on my tomtom without connecting it to my PC and it states 'no map found' therefore I don't think I'm out of the woods yet.

After reading your steps again I think I know where I've gone wrong. I patched the map whilst it was still on my computer hard drive. I'll copy everything to the tomtom and run through it again.

Doing the whole process on your device is the easiest way !
You need only use one tool to activate the map ,and patch your Navcore - Easy Activator

    Still struggling!

I think I'm doing everything the way I should but my device cant seem to pick up the map.

This is what I've done, step by step.

Just deleted the Aus maps from the device (to start afresh)

Extracted the Australia_830_2305.rar into a file of the same name

Copied the contents of Australia_830_2305 (ov2, met files etc) onto the root of my tomtom device ( my I: drive) so there is an Australia_830_2305 folder with the contents.

I have then used Easy Activator to patch the map. I have also successfully patched my system files with this.

Save and close etc. Now, when I go to tomtom home the Australian map is shown, however when I disconnect the device, my tomtom cannot find the map.

    Is this the correct way?

    Also, thanks for the link!

    YES! I've done it.

I think the problem was the Australian map version. I tried the process with Australia_830_2290 and it all worked ok. For some reason I cannot get Australia_830_2305 to work.

Cheers for your help, will get to adding my POI's now.

    Thanks again
