Default Mixing DTV/BP/Fox on one cable

    Gday,

I am posting here because you satellite guys are the cleverest.

I am restricted to one RG6 run which is currently carrying Bigpond and Fox, and am wondering if terrestrial digital TV signals can be 'splittered' into and then out of the RG6 as well?

    Thanks..V

    Thanks for the replies.

I am concerned that splitting digital tv freqs on to the fox/bp cable will send the dig tv freqs back up the fox/bp backbone.

Is there such a thing as a one way/directional splitter/isolator, so I don't have to worry about affecting anyone else's fox/bp upstream of me?

Just confirming that you have Bp and Foxtel off satellite, not cable.

If so, then terrestrial/satellite diplexers will work.

Fit one at the top of the cable run, where you combine the sat & terrestrial cables onto the single RG6, then fit another at the other end of the coax as a separator, so you then have separate sat & terrestrial at the equipment end.

If the signals are combined/separated as described, you shouldn't have any problem with interference to other users.

Just be aware that the point at which you combine the terrestrial and sat signals, must be at a location that connects to the cable to your apartment only and not to a trunk cable.

I use the diplexers and for digital (DVB-t and DVB-s) stuff notice no difference (although I dont use a meter to measure)
    Dm500, DM5620, DM600 x2, DM7000 x1, DM7020, DM7025, DM800, VU+DUO and a partridge in a pear tree
All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing
