I thought that this release may have a later map than those that were already available. However after extracting the map from the package it is still only 2008.Q3 (081205) over 12 months old. Most Navteq maps in other packages are a lot more up to date than this one. I'd be a bit pissed off if I bought this and found the map that far out of date!

    Cheers, Ian

I ended up getting the tomtom traffic cameras file from ozpoi & converting it to igo format.

then you ssh into the iphone & go to the loaction

    /private/var/mobile/Applications/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/Library/Caches/content/speedcam/

overwrite the SpeedcamUpdates.spud into that directory & set the file attributes set to 644

respring the phone & that should be it

reload the program, first find GPS satellites, then go to settings/sound and warnings and enable speed camera.

heres some screenshots of the cameras on the map
havent tested it on road yet.

    heres the camera file

I downloaded this with a great deal of gratitude earlier today (before I joined the forum) but have found that this app doesn't seem to do turn by turn. Is that right? I d/l the speed cam file and installed as instructed, but when i went on the road I had no sound at all. At first, I thought it was the phone, but thats not the case... sygic works fine. I've deleted and reinstalled and am hoping for a better exp tomorrow.

Curious about where the app came from because iGo don't seem to have created an Australia map, and the POIs are listed as Australia, with Argentina in the small print!

I'm hoping the turn by turn isn't just not there, but simply b0rked. Also, iGo (official) doesn't have speed cams according to their website... its coming. Maybe this is why its not working? Its prepared for but not activated within the software?

More info: In addition to completely reinstalling, I also deleted silence.mp3 which was in the root directory. Not sure what its for, but at last I was able to get the turn by turn instructions, took it for a spin and all is decent. Shame there is no speed warnings. I'll try the cams again tomorrow., I'm not sure what fixed my issues.

[edit] interestingly when i was about to drop the new speedcam file in, I noticed that silence is back... I may have forgotten to delete after I backed up, but no matter, the voice was working today, which is all i needed to establish.

I had the same problem with the sound & it only come good after I removed & then re installed it, at first I thought there somehing wrong with the application but all OK now.

As for speed or POI alerts I am sure this will get better in time, you have to remember that GPS is new to the Iphone.

using the iphone as a GPS device is illegal in most states. As is using any phone as a GPS. Whilst driving.

Only if you are actually holding it or touching the controls. If it is mounted properly and is not being touched it should be fine. It is a bit of a grey area at the moment because of the fact that it is a phone first and a GPS second.

The operative word is "using". ie operating the controls, making calls on the phone etc etc. If its mounted somewhere or laying on the dash and you arent "using" it, there is no issue.

Interesting. You can get speed cams, but you can't buy maps for australia (bearing in mind this is not iphone specific anyway). One wonders why they bother with the speed cams for a country they don't have the maps for.
