I got a fan heater - 2000 Watts
I run it in the bathroom and after maybe 15 minutes the Plug got stinkin' hot.
I figured there must be a poor connection so I cut off the molded-on plug and put on another one.
This one is getting hot too.
The heat appears to be starting from the Active Pin.
The screws holding the wires are tight, and the outlet seems to be fine.
This new plug is made of soft plastic, and the pin sort of melted the plastic.
VERY HOT.
I figure there must be poor electrical contact between the pin and the outlet.
The neutral pin doesn't even get warm.
I ain't tried it yet, but I'm considering plugging the heater into another room outlet to see if it still gets the plug stinkin' hot.
Could someone fill me in as to whats going on here before I burn me house down?

ditto replace the power outlet

Get a licenced electrician to replace your socket outlet on the wall
I'ld rather live a little on the wild side and attempt the replacement myself.
Obviously it couldn't be too difficult or surely the replacements wouldn't be so generally available to purchase.
But the main reason I'ld prefer to do it is because the prices these licensed electricians would charge me would be unviable.
Too much red tape and beaurocratic bullshit in this world already without having me add further to it.
And laziness.
I mean - how hard could it be?
DxE=C+(y+z)=W\X+F=
Lets see
X= fee for electrician
Y=total cost of house (including burnt rubbish removal)
Z=price of land
W=total land and house cost
C=cost of human life
D=average working years of a Human
E=average yearly wage
F=the cost to get your IQ tested

I figure an IQ of 126 should be capable of replacing the GPO.
And I also figure that 8 years of experience repairing television and other electronic equipment should also qualify as to capable.
I figure if you shove that into your Formula, it pretty much cancels out both sides to give me a fair chance of getting it right.
Thanks for your concerns about my welfare anyway.
Was more concerned about why the plug was getting hot.
Just shows why the world initiates Pagan Rites to celebrate the birth of the Messiah.

So all those capacitors with Low ESR you replaced over the years, any idea why the ESR was low?
Would it enable the repair to be any different having known?
I am technician, not an engineer.
I can put things right, but it don't necessarily follow that I need to know why things are as they are.
Sometimes that metal thing with iron on the end is known as a hammer.
Regardless of its name , it still belts them nails in just the same.
When I replace parts, I prefer to know why the original failed because that becomes knowledge, which improves ability.
Wouldnt most Technicians have a Plug and Socket License? Surely this would be enough to be capable of removing a wall socket (switch off mains supply) remove three wires, fit socket and test that it is correctly wired. Bunnings have a nice little 3 pin plug with neons that indicate if wiring is correct or faulty.
And the plug should also be replaced as it will damage the new powerpoint again.
How hard could it be??....it's only 3 wires...and only 2 do anything....
Hope you have an RCD in your switchboard just incase...
And here i am thinking it only takes one wire to kill you, I am laughing now
