Looks like they will sign you up but its a $500 install.
I have heard on good authority that Optarse will no longer be signing up any new customers to OTV, declining all new sales and refusing to take on any new customers or contracts.
what does this mean for us? will prices go up because of this?

Looks like they will sign you up but its a $500 install.
I think they will still do a second box install on existing connection which may be useful to some.
DM500s Black with rear on/off switch $99 inc post , DM800 sim 82 $250 inc post, DM800SE $310 inc
Yep just got a second box from them and indeed the official word is they are not sighning up any new customers.
they are down to their last 30'000 customers now, by apr you will be finding a new provider. optus should be sending you a letter early next yr stating that you need to make arrangments to find a new provider by then as optus is shutting down pay television on the cable network.
what is interesting in this is that once gone, there should be no reason austar cant be had in metro. anti competition etc...
There is no reason Austar or Foxtel cant be sold Australia wide EXCEPT they dont want too.
Optus wanted out several years ago and was prepared to shut it all down and walk but for some last minute behind the scenes pushing and shoving.
Might be a good time for Optus PayTV customers to contact consumer affairs and see where they stand regarding choosing a new provider.
I was told by Optus last week, that they are not signing up any new business (TV) and that if existing customers ended their contract it would not be renewed at any later date.
