    Smile PVR & webcam Issues

I am having issues with my webcam / PVR unit and my ability to log in when ever i want.
it appears to be more of an issue with the IP address the unit has assigned and whether it keeps that address.

    This is the Unit

    This is the Interface

    This is the Router

    Sorry, a bit more information:

The unit has an IP address assigned to it. The port is forwarded to it in the router. But the router appears to not always pick up the unit, or it assigns it a different IP address than the one i have assigned it in the network set up.

Is your incomming IP address static?
Have you set the IP address in the PVR/DVR manually or is it DHCP?

The only thing I can suggest is log into the router and reserve an IP addresss for the MAC address of the DVR. Then see how you go.

Under DHCP Table in you router there should be a Permanent Table.

You want to make sure that the IP address assigned to the DVR is permanent. Easy way to test which is which is to remove the LAN cable and make note of which address drops off (you may have to refresh your browser).

Once you assign that IP address to that MAC address, then you can create your portforwad rule to that LAN IP on the port number of your choice. Ensure you have enabled that port in your routers firewall. If your PVR/DVR has DHCP, leave it blank i.e. let it recieve the IP address we configured.

Have a go see if it works.

Ok George, i have the port forwarded ( always has been) so that is not an issue.

There is a spot for Permanent under DHCP table, but there appears to be no way to add or assign a certain MAC address to this area.

The MAC address of the PVR does not show up in the DHCP table.
It does appear in the ARP table.

Is there a difference? yes just figured it out that the PVR is not connected by DHCP it is a STATIC address

Can anyone tell me how to add that MAC address to the Permanent table.

Ok i got it s0rted with help from Billion support.

You can do this on config -->LAN -->DHCP Server -->Next -->Fixed Host -->Add

And thus i have a permanent setting.
