Default Is there any decent english FTA on c-band worth getting big dish for?

    Hi,

Is there any decent english FTA (sports!?) on c-band worth getting big dish for?

I am in NZL NI and have room for up to 3m-ish dish (just cancelled Sky sub so have bit of spare money to spend now - and am getting hooked on this satellite stuf =)).

IF you can go larger, say 3.7m = better. Yard mount.

Have a look at Palapa C2'S Global TV and RCTI; F1, UEFA-soccer that sort of thing.

Arab stations often carry soccer events, AS2 and 3.

News stuff on AS3s, VOA TV (One and Two), NOW TV, Channel News Asia, "Sahara" are the Indian regional news channels, great english tickers sometimes, comedy in the translation, Press TV RT etc.

Australia Network on IS8 looks ok if I could get a smartcard - seem to show a bit of sport and has Super14.

That's about the only channel that looks like it would have watchable english content - may not be worth it.

At last count there are over 200 channels receivable on C-Band in the south east. As you suggest nearly all are non English.

My favourite is the California Bouquet at You get BBC world, Australia Int'l, and the CBS New York feed early mornings.

The Fox mux on Tp9, often has ESPN-2 and other events running FTA.

    Default Vertical of 113 east

12ft (3.7m) dish is the minimum in the southeast to get vertical of 113. The common dish is 2.3m.

Depends on what box and LNB/Dish setup you have aswell..

I know when I setup Palapa C2 on northwest Tassie, I couldnt pick up a thing with the DM7000 or DM500 or Fortec Blidscan... But with the good ol Humax and Media Star Blindscan boxes, I was able to look a strong signal on most transponders on Palapa C2, there were a few I couldnt get aswell.. Dish size was 2.3m Meshie with no mods..

Some boxes have more sensitive tuners, some lnbs are stronger aswell(just like universal lnbs with austar dont give as strong as signal as Single polarity lnbs)

I still rember getting Austar setup legitamatly in Sisters Beach in Tassie which is abit f a blackspot coz of Some type of rock, I told the installer I heard the blue austar 11300 lnb were stronger (or meant to be) he laughed at me and hook up a white hills 11300 one, after the install was done the dish was locked on about 83% I got him to change the lnb to a blue on i had on one of the many dishes I had laying around, he was telling me i was wasting his tim, until he seen the signal strength on the screen after the change was about 14% stronger...... He said it was just luck, but im sure its much more than this....

Sorry for hijacking thread, but thought this was handy and corresponding info to this thread...

In the south east a 1.5m can pull in C-2 Horizontal effortless. Unfortunately the Vertical channels are on North Asia beam which require 12 footer in the south east.

Have a go at . TV3 has some good English programs

On INT-10 (PAS-10) we have some good sport channels. DD-Sport, Z-Sport and GEO SUPER is full with sport, like cricket, tennis, autosport, football....and all this in english. There are some other channels to, like FE-tv for old shows, CCTV-9, DAWN NEWS TV, AL JAZEERA, NHK, ARIRANG TV and UJALA TV....again in english. 3-4 more in english, but they are the god channel like. Pluss a few more not in english.
