Default 10 gig local storage device

We've been asked to design an IP intruder, access control, fire & video solution for a company to sell to their customers. We have all the hardware and software in place to do all of this remotely, however, they have asked for 10 gigs of local storage.

Bump. I'm so far out of touch with client side storage solutions - it's not funny. So, is there a device out there that accepts both digital inputs and software commands as triggers ?

I think the idea is to record locally and upload images remotely when there is an event. Any suggestions appreciated

Many DVRs these days have the ability to record locally and send images via email to alert authorised users who can then login and view remotely.

As far as storage goes, I know Pacom have an external storage unit they call "Gigastore"

    Check under DVRs

Currently states upto 7Tb but new model due soon will double that.
    Not cheap tho!

A lot of decentralised CCTV systems already do this. Mobotix is an example where images are stored locally in the camera on an SDHC card (which can be up to 32GB). At the same time, images are recorded locally on a NAS device. There are also configuration settings which allow for event triggers to send images off to a remote location.

Now that sounds like one good alternative.

Other people I've talked to have mentioned NAS devices. In which device (camera, DVR, server software or NAS device itself) do you program what images get written to where ?

Is there a popular one that is being used for CCTV ?

A NAS is just a fancy term for Network Attached Storage. The NVR software is where the smarts is in decentralised and centralised IP CCTV systems. Each vendor will have their own NVR software which is compatible with most IP cameras on the market. The software is where you would configure recording and remote functionality. Also, the good companies will have SDK's that make life 1000x easier.

Thanks for the suggestions. Email will not be acceptable and the device has to have an HTTP API so we can control it from our server platform.

OK Thanks - so I'm looking for a US manufactured NVR with a SDK.

Im sure it will be of no suprize to here my position.
IndigoVision can do this with ease. I have several systems of that size and larger out in the field.
Either used 5X 2TB stand alone NVR's or an external NAS/SAN

A convention centre is a 10Tb system installed about 4 years back with 100 cameras 25ips for 30+ days.

Below is a calculation for 180 days of 2CIF 6ips. Still only 13.1TB
