    Default PS3 online gaming requirements

a guy at work has bought himself a PS3 and wants to get into some of the games he has online.
i dunno jack about online gaming so i was asking for him,
what minimum internet speed would he need and also a minimum download limit, he wont be gaming all day everyday either.
and anything else he should know?
    cheers

you can play most games fine capped so i would say a small plan that shapes and doesnt charge extra if you go over, if hes only playing games 5gb would last him the month easily with some left over for downloading stuff.

i know people with 512 and it works ok, problem is if the playstation picks an overseas server you will be at a disadvantage. if he does get the 512 tell him to make lots of aussie friend online n play with them so the server is in oz, will help keep things fair, nothing worse than thinking you blew someones head off only to watch the replay and find out your gun didnt get close to shooting him.
    but the faster the better.

adsl2 would be better preferably for higher upload, makes a difference in games like call of duty etc if you end up hosting.
