Gday, I am unsure of their products now but I bought a AverMedia 706 hybrid (DVB-S) and FM card about 6 months ago and have found it to be a pretty good card (just don't use the AverMedia software), ProgDVB is so simple to use this idiot uses it every day. IMHO the AverMedia card does not seem as "deaf" as what other pc based receivers are, and am pleased with the services I pick up (75cm D1, 90cm D2,C1,D3). Are you looking to watch live or record and watch later?. I THINK, not sure but THINK if you use some software that will capture the raw transport stream, any DVB-S card will do the job as it is then upto you having the right codecs installed to watch the program - much like 4:2:2 chroma broadcasts.

the software determines whether a card can do MPEG4 and HD, the only thing that matters in terms of a card, is whether it's DVB-S or DVB-S2

Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite - Second Generation (DVB-S2) is an enhanced specification to replace the DVB-S standard, developed in 2003 and ratified by ETSI (EN 302307) in March 2005. The development of DVB-S2 coincided with the introduction of HDTV and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) video codecs.

The system allows transmission of one or more MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 audio–video streams, using QPSK or 8PSK or 16/32APSK (amplitude and phase shift keying) modulation with concatenated encoding.

    from Wikipedia

Basically it's the updated spec for DVB-S. I understand in order to broadcast H.264 video, you must use DVB-S. Most modern HD is in H.264 rather than MPEG2

    Hi,
I use 2X AzureWave SP-400 S2 and it works well, bought in au online.
I used to use SkyStar2 (got it from Europe) and it was working good as well. Althou SS2 is not S2 it was working with HD contens with no problems.

But yes you can get AzureWave for around $190 with CI in au.

    Cheers

EDIT: both cards are not fully featured (meaning no hardware decoders on board) but the decoding is done by software or hardware on video card like Nvidia for example.
