Your fox card will NOT work with your strong decoder, the foxtel card is NDS and the Strong is Irdeto, two diferent non compatible encryption systems.

    Your options are:

to take the fox decoder with u to use the fox sub card, or
to get an austar sub and use the strong, or
to get a select tv sub and use the strong,
or to get a whitey and use the strong to steal austar

alll of the above will require a 65cm dish and lnb aimed at the correct sat

Get means buy a SUBscription and therefore SUB is short for the SUBscription card.

you need a sat dish, lnb, coax with F type connections & a TV.
You can use the box it's self as a sat finder

Dude by the sounds of it you do not have the expertise to do what you want.

Now you say you have a dish and LNB and cable with connectors i hope.

Ok one you will need a decoder the DM500s is your best bet its cheap and easy to use.

You will need some way of supporting the dish that won't get blown over.

What you need to learn is how to find the sat you want. ie: where in the sky it is, you need to know two things, Azimuth and Elevation, so you can amin your dish.
And it will help if you know your latitude and longatude of your location.

if you have a laptop you get a program that will help you with this. Oh and maybe a sat meter would help too

    Cheers

You will need to scan Optus C1 sat to find all the channels.

judging by your use of terminology alone, as tagg suggested you dont seem to know quite enough about it to do what you want.

it is easy to learn though, but you would be much better off getting someone to show you in person, rahter than trying to interperet what people are saying ona forum.

perhaps if you post your location someone could help, or altrenativly, ring a tv antenna guy and get him to show you, though you will have to pay him and it is best you have all the parts first and set up, which are:

dish, with a bracket or pole you are going to use to secure it on each time you stop and want to set it up. you cant drive with it set up and it must be able to attache firmly to the pole / bracket when set up and not move around at all.

lnb and cable, sounds like you have that sorted

    decoder and card.

satellite finder and compass to make it easy for you each time you need to re-setup.

now put your decoder where it will live, connect up the cable to it and the other end to the dish which you have by now mounted on its pole / bracket.

now call your guy to ensure it is set up right and to show you how to tune it in.

    hth.

ok then if you buy a DM500s from Fernbay i think he has them all set up with the sats and channels programed into the box all you will have to do is point the dish in the right direction.

    Cheers

You best get a $25 sat meter from a sat shop to align the dish.

It will be exteremely difficult otherwise.

Go here...this where you should look first up:-

    Default Travelling man

    Hi Fernbay
Will the new Fo***l cards work in the DM500s. I use my old bluey card in my caravan when travelling, at the moment. I am thinking of going for a IQ1 which I believe has an orange card, but the box is too big in size for the Van shelf.
