Copy them to your PC's hard drive. It isn't hard.

Just to be on the safe side, copy to HDD, then copy from HDD to another sd card, and try it it your GPS. If it works you are OK, if it doesn't, then back to the drawing board.

Yeah thanks troyboy had already thought of that, seems that the SD Card is not able to be read.

Should have said this in my first post.

    Still not clear.
Is the original sd card unable to be read?
Or is the backup sd card unable to be read?
Is it unable to be read in the gps or by the computer?
A lot of backup sd cards have to be formatted into fat32 first [most come in fat format only] Also you often have to have 'show hidden files' ticked on your computer to see all the files to copy

    Taken from another froum -

"The Topo SD cards are locked to there software, you can copy the software all you like BUT it won't work on any other SD card except the one it came on."

For example, I can copy the data to pc. No problems. Place it back on original card - still ok.

Put data onto another card - ie backup card. No go GPS just continues to look at card. But not get any data from it.

Must be linked to the SD card serial number or something, there's probably a way, crack etc...
