How stable is greywolf? Cause I was told that people had to restart it on a regular basis ie every couple of days?
Is this the case or was it just someone spinning crap?

Is there any pixelation with greywolf?

We obviously move in different social circles

Mine can run fine for a month, but I usually reset cause I am always fiddling.

If you do all your ms updates, and don't use the machine for anything stupid like "folding" and if you don't set your hard drives for a one minute power save or any other clever thing...then there is no problem.

Most people try and get away with the crappiest bits of leftover hardware they have lying around then wonder why it falls over all the time.

Configure it as if it were a mission critical mail server app and she'll be fine.

are you using any serial connections, or using BFxxx.
im finding the serial connections dont seem 100% reliable for some reason

The serial connections are flakey no matter what program used cause the atr timings are usually tight.
The author concentrated his efforts in the Bf interface and the newcamd interface, which is IP based so that's just the way it is .

OP suggests how to avoid an outage completely...and alas...no version of newcs can keep a whitey from falling over, but our homegrown Aussie Greywolf program does...

A true testament to aussie talent....thank you Greywolf author.

Newcs will run for about 2 weeks in most cases if emk is not manually updated....I know someone using a very early version of newcs (I think its 1.17) and that has never needed a manual update he claims

But it's not newcs thats the problem...it's the emu's that aren't passing the update. Same reason with greywolf....if you just use newcamd clients only it wont update the card thats why it needs a humax client in the mix.

I wonder if the old cs_server works but using older tng(newcamd 5.25) as a client. As it used to update the cards fine before.

    simplest and easiest way

    1x old shitty laptop $120 on ebay ( mine =666mhz 256 ram 6gig hdd)
1x greywolf which can serve humax - strong - dreams etc = $0
1x humax = look around always a bargain about
    optional
    1x bf430 = $75 (recommended)

all this equals never needing to worry about it ever falling over.i personally have this setup and i run a stripped down xp (beast edition) and only reboot GW once every month for the sake of it.It runs various setops from dreams through to zinwell and what ever else i am testing at the time .

A friend has similar setup but he now uses 2kserver which is probaly better and more stable with the extra connections in and out

Newcs is a problem in itself, with 1.5 they've screwed it with extra zeroes etc, they don't see our stream so a bit hard to appreciate the issue, although it is a worldwide problem.

Nah...the public versions of greywolf don't pass emm's from newcamd clients that's the only reason.
I have a non public version that works fine.
