Ask him if you pay a bit extra to cover the paypal fees...

I have purchaced from a supplier on that site that only accecped westernion union. I offered to pay for his paypal fees and he was fine with it then. I think it was $13USD extra on a $500 order.

It still doesnt mean your covered. Paypal only provide buyer protection for items purchased on ebay.

You can make a complaint to paypal if you get ripped off and they will investigate it , but they will only reimburse what is in the rippers paypal account ( which is more than likely nothing ) and thats best case scenario.

Credit Card is the safest method of payment because you can institute a chargeback through your bank ( not that they really advertise that fact

In my opinion , the absolute safest way to pay is via Paypal but with your credit card. That way , should you get ripped off you make a complaint with Paypal. If Paypal are not responsive , you can institue a chargeback through your bank against paypal.

In the past I have also had a case where I was sold some counterfeit military medals ( I am a collector ). I made a complaint to paypal and they found in the sellers favour on some ridiculous technicalities. I then emailed Paypal asking for the contact details ( full name , department etc etc ) of the person responsible for Paypal's decision because I was making a complaint with the Small Claims Tribunal in Victoria.

Rather than have to send someone to attend the tribunal , they instantly changed their mind and refunded me

well looks like i just gotta bite the bullet and pay up.
cant seem to get around the no risk factor.
im just ordering 10 ($680 or so)
and if it comes through, we can go more, look at motherboards,drives,ram ect.

FYI
From the customs website:
"All goods (except for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if their value is $1,000 or less."

Ask the sender to reduce the value on the paperwork if it gets over $1000, or just do multiple shipments about 1 week apart...

hate to say it but unless one of these so called suppliers offers a safer payment,
otherwise, im risking $ for no gain.
i asked supplier for photo of goods with a note with my name on it.
his reply, we send when you make payment, no worry, right.
have my china girl chasing things up for me.
only other way would be,
9 of you + me fork out $60 each upfront, pay the guy and hope they show up.
its a real 50/50 on me, but im not that rich that i can loose $600 and not cry.
