Long time but I thought all the bytes before the second length byte were not used in the sig calc.
It would affect the checksum.

Here are some basic log observations.
1. The new 1030 CB/C3 began to appear about 4 months ago
2. Initially the numbers were small but over a period of 6 weeks increased dramatically.
3. Now almost 60% of the HSNs receive the new 1030 CB/C3's
4. About 40% still receive the older 0030 CB/C3's. From this you can only assume the counter measure has either been targetted to a specific range or version of the card.
5. During this period of time new EMMs messages appeared.
6. There appears to be a 14 day transition where the HSN receives the new 1030 CB/C3 but two different 02 EMMs for it provider id. One is processed by the whitey. (This is the indication the end is near).
7. After about 2 weeks of first receiving the 1030, the cutover to the new counter measure is coompleted.
The fact that there is transition period implies it not the use of the something pre-existing in the card. The sub clearly received an OTA of some form. To ensure continuity of service the sub receives both EMMs for a period of time.
So to understand what has happened you need to look at the past.
Yes, those observations are correct, but what is your explanation?
I would add a couple more observations:
1. some 4.1 cards continue to work and have not yet been targeted by 1030's suggesting the older style 0030's are likely for either 4.1 cards or older boxes
2. some new boxes with 5.3 cards received an OTA firmware Dload about 2 weeks ago raising the possibility that the STB pre-processes the 1030's.

I don't know anything LOL.
I am interested in how you think the encryption has been changed to make the cards decrypt the existing 1030's to nonsense. If you look at the decrypted packets now, there are no recognisable commands, apart from the fact that the MAC is wrong.
As you would know from the gammacard sourcecode that has been circulating for the past few years, the decryption does not operate on the HSN or 10 30 part of the packet, so changing this does not in itself alter the packet contents (but it does affect the MAC).
So the only logical conclusions are
1. the cam pre-processes the packets - or -
2. the keys have changed - or -
3. the whole card decryption has changed - or -
4. it's some kind of magic
WRT the Dload, I suppose it's possible that the box needed updating to facilitate different transponders, but I don't see why that would be necessary given that the box should be able to find the additional TPs from the NIT.
Rather than asking questions, why don't you tell us what you think?

Just a quick question about a whitey so i dont need to start a new thread...
Is a whitey the only card that gets the yellow singe on the back of the card (opposite side of the sim) or do goldies and fun cards have the same problem?
Cheers

I partially disagree.
If the card runs at its rated voltage it shouldn't burn the plastic.
Problem with whitey is that the processor is mcore and should run at 3v, but most if not all boxes and card readers run 5v.

I still think they are just really cheap Chinese cards LOL
When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
they're cheap now lol

I had one whitey that burnt up like the Columbia at 5V, but liked 3V. I had a much later one that wouldn't work at 3V but stayed cool at 5V. I put a switch on my IR-Ace to change voltages. Ah, those were the days. It seems so long ago. Still, there's always something just around the corner.
I certainly don't.
I was saying that I wouldn't mind a bin file, if anyone had one that could be of interest.
G'day Elbee.
