Can I change my Xbox BIOS without damaging my file system?

uunless you have a installer that will do the xenium (slayer wont)
you need to do it via the xenuim menu you have choices of which banks to flash and which bank to boot from
the bios can be renamed to whaterver you want so it may not be what it says

O.K., tried to flash from the Xenium OS, which you get to by pressing the eject button instead of power, in case anybody out there wants to do the same thing. That doesn't work either.

I'd like to disable flash protection, but can't find any way to do such a thing. There's no mention of it in the 64 page Xenium manual, and so far none of the post ings I have read say how to do it either. I'll go back to searching through posts, but if anybody knows how to disable the flash protection on a Xenium, please explain it here, becuase in the past hour I have found no solution and my prospects of finding this info is getting worse, not better!

Anyways, turns out the manual I had has been edited by some dipshit, and downloading a different version had all the answers I needed. God bless you, may you have all that you seek in life, you have both been incredibly helpful thorugh this crisis of mine.

what are you trying to do mate? It looks messy as there's a heap of questions. Will be easier to help if you explain what it is you are wanting to achieve.

There is, but I would recommend against it as you chance loosing everything if a partition does become corrupt for whatever reason. At least if there are 2 partitions you are less likely to loose the lot!
This is bios related, in your case with a v1.6 you are pretty limited to bioses as you NEED a 256kb bios to fit on your aladdin and as such you need EvoX m8plus_16 or a derivative of it. I have my custom one on SlaYers 2.7, which will work well on your setup.

I'd use a SlaYers 2.7 bios as they are newer and we tested the hell out of them to ensure they work.

these prompts just tell you what it will do, its normal and safe to flash, although I highly recommend using the customized m8plus_16 file(you will need to edit in EVtool)

just flash with

your probably haven't disabled write protection, press and hold button for a few seconds(when powering on) and try again.
