If I called that number from my pennytel account it'd cost me 8 cents if someone picked up.
Big George, its a well known scam that some less than reputable companies will send you a strange txt or ring your number but hang up after 1 ring. Humans being an inquisative bunch will ring or txt the number back to find out who it is, only to be slugged with HUGE $ per minute charges not just your initial call cost. Better to call a fone sex line, at least you will get something in return for your money!!!
Spot on jippy, although the number joey got a call from seems to be a us number....
Finally worked it out after being on the phone to telstra mobilenet , they said the message came from one of those premium message services and if I had of replied it would cost $6.00 and I would have also signed up to receive endless crap and paid an extra $3.00 per message they sent me !! They have put a block on premium message services for me.
It's a scam alright !!!
