    Default Problem with https sites

I bought one of these TP LINK w8902 modem/routers, I have it setup(via bigpond adsl1) and for some reason I cant access any https websites. Anyone else have this problem? I can browse and do most things but no netbank or signin sites.

    Any clues appreciated.

Try changing the MTU from 1500 to say 1400.

Get and adjust the MaxMTU component on you PC 1492 is often used, sometimes 1454 is a good size.

If you are using TCPOptimizer are you certain you were setting the MTU on the interface you are actually using?

It has the latest firmware available for it.... Ssratrus, it has a setting on the webif of the modem for MTU, I tried changing that to the above settings.. I have 4 pcs hooked up to it...2 wireless and 2 wired....none have access to https. I tried changing the MTU on this lappy to 1400, 1452 and 1492 via the cmd console. Still no change....put the draytek back on....stock standard and it works first go with all the MTU's on all pc's set at stock 1500. The Draytek doesnt have any option to change the MTU. I did a speed test and it seems to be running MTU at 1492.

you can't change the MTU by command console (unless you are using Linux), only by registry change (ie that is what TCPOptimizer does). You can test different MTU sizes via the ping command, but most https sites don't ping anyway. You will probably find that Windows update doesn't work as well. Although I remember reading that if works then it isn't an MTU problem, no idea why!

Try again with TP-Link set to 1492 and lappy to 1492.

This is how I did it.
    cmd prompt
    >netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces
    >netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1400 store=persistent

I set both to the same ie router and lappy but no go.

If theres a problem with it ill stand by the 3 year warranty i provide.

As mentioned in this thread might be just a simple setting your overlooking.

That doesn't work with my XP setup. Not that it means much if it works with yours.

Yeah sorry about the comment there Urban, was a little harsh! I'll keep playing and post when/if I get it going properly. Ssratus that might be for vista(this lappy has vista on it. But the other pc's are xp.

Ok I fixed it......it seems there is newer firmware available and it worked first go.....hate that feeling of wasting time on simple shit. Thanks anyway guys for your patience and advice. I retract the negative comments I made above....must calm the temper

Silly me, I thought the latest firmware that says"for Australian users only" would be the one. But the one for the rest of the world is what that worked.
