    Default Oldschool Analog Cable TV?

Hi all, I was have`n a little play tonite and plugged my cable modem lead into my TV by mistake and low and behold, I tuned in a stack of pay channels, but either bad pics and sound or perfect pics and no sound if I change the sound options from BG to L.

BTW I am not trying to steal pay, as I already pay for satellite pay service.
I just want to learn something about my local provider.

So does anyone remember the old days with analog cable, as that is obviously what this is, and how to get the sound and stable pics at the sames time.

    easy answer:

NCable is the last of the analogue cable pay TV providers.

That said, now that TransACT basically own NCable, it should only be aq matter of time before thaqt HFC network (Ballarat, Mildura and Geelong) get updated to similar iPTV technology that TransACT is rolling out over their FTTC network in the ACT.

Here is a tip though if you have a PCI TV Tuner Card.

Use CCDXP32 (wow that has been a long time coming here) and switch from PAL B/G to PAL M, that should give you stable pic and audio.

If not, get your hands on a Jerrold 550w and learn how to mod that box.

Dam it it this were 3 to 5 years ago all the info could of been found here at Austech.

I must admit I still have a totally modified Jerrold 550 still sitting in the shed.
I guess everything can have a price.
God this thread brings back memories, The Jerrold was the first box I ever modified.
Nice and simple, easy to do.

Ohhh I'm sorry, I had the impression you wanted to experiment and maybe learn something.
You can buy any one of the jerrolds offered and you can if you want plug them in, you won't 'GET' anything, indeed thats why these STB's are all sitting now in our garages or sheds, that method of encryption bypass finished ages ago and we all moved on to other ways and methods.

So, in answer to your immediate question 'do I need to do anything?'
Reading would be a good starting point.

The fun (and frustration at times) is in experimenting, modifying, building etc to make things work. Sure you can just plug it in
A lot of info regarding this topic was lost in the great forum crash.
