    Default D-Link DSL-G604T issue

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in hardware but it probably goes equally in both.

I've got a client that has an internet installation (running two kiosks) and he is using a DSL-G604T modem. When it detects the ADSL and locks on, it's fine. However, if there is a power cut and the modem drops out, when it comes back on the following happens:

ADSL light flashes as it is associating, locks steady for a few seconds, then starts flashing again, then goes out. This repeats for anything from a few minutes to a few hours before it will properly associate and stay locked.

I've just given a spare one of these modems to a friend as it has a wireless AP on it which he needs. Just went to set it up and it's doing the same thing. ADSL light flashes, locks for a few seconds, starts flashing again then goes out. Then it repeats the whole cycle again.

Does anyone know if there is a known issue with these modems? I've looked on the D-Link website and can't see much.

Yes, it currently has the latest firmware in it.

The modem my mate is currently using (a D-Link DSL-502T) works perfectly on his line with no probs at all.

Given that this is the second 604T that I've had with this issue leads me to believe it's a modem problem.

Is it an adsl2 connection? If so, what mode is the adsl setting set to in the dlink? I have seen them change themselves to the wrong options before when they get a bit of a power spike/brown out and you have to go back into the admin page and change the dsl to auto. Would be worth a look at least.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

    Default DSL-604T/AU A3 WPA2-AES Firmware

I know this is an old post, but when a DSL-G604T fails it's generally:
    1. the 4 filter capacitors dry out,
    2. the plug pack dies (9-12v AC MAX under load - replacement), or
    3. the user did not change the password and some one on the net got into it.

There is Version 3 firmware available for the DSL-G604T/AU hardware version A3.
Firmware has WiFi support for WPA2 with Pre Shared Keys and AES - seems to overcome all my random crashes.
It claims support for ADSL2+ Annex L&M and DSL 5.00.03.00 Datapumps.

It's a lot better than using DSL-G624T firmware which has a semi compatible WiFi card that has to manually woken up after a reset.
