    Default Is Freeview Dead?

The rumour is that freeview has been ditched, with networks being unsupportive of decoder features and decoder manufacturers balking at the cost of accreditation.

Networks (particularly commercial) are said to be against ad-skipping and even fast-forward being able to be used on Freeview PVR's.

They want users to be required to play ad breaks, just like you can't usually skip past copyright messages on DVD's.

For decoder manufacturers, the Freeview equipment accreditation process must be performed every time any changes are made to the equipment, which means even if a change to firmware is made, it will require the manufacturer to re-submit the decoder to obtain Freeview compliance, a timely and costly process.

Has anyone else noticed the lack of Freeview publicity lately?

Yes I've noticed as well but I've seen "keep sport free" maybe there is some legal action going on.

I thought I saw an advert to win a "freeview' box in a magazine very recently.
Maybe they didnt expect the public to see thru the glitzy promotion and see the cost and what restrictions they wanted to impose and make it known what they (publc) thought of the proposal.
Also the accusation of plaguising that car ad and the send up on YouTube might not have helped either.
We really dont know just who reads the comments in this forum and others of a similar nature and what gets passed back to a sensitive ear.

Would any one shed a tear if it has gone the way of the Dodo bird??
Good Riddance to bad rubbish is the best euolgy I can give it.
