If the bios doesnt detect it then that is the problem, bios cannot report the proper device to windows if it cannot see it.
Maybe a cable issue? Sata or IDE?
If it is sata then make sure you have the correct mobo drivers for your sata ports.
ok guys gat a bad virus the other day, from torrents as usual, should of scanned it 1st i know, done the format and reinstall and all is well except for 1 of my dvd drive's. windows now calls it a bd rom( blu ray). now bios doesent detect it at all? and there's no way its a blue ray drive. it opens and shut but windows wont recognise any media in drive.

If the other pc picks it up it may pay you to check if there is a newer firmware for the drive.
Did you check in device manager to see if it's there, if so uninstall it reboot and let windows find it again
was in device manager, uninstalled it but when rebooted windows just picked it up as a bd rom again, still havent tried in another pc but will do so 2day or 2morro. will let you know how i go. then will try the firmware thing.
