This might help
I was windows Xp and a while ago I encrypted files on a user account to stop access etc. Since then the user has been deleted how ever the files are still there and are still encrypted. I realise u need to be the user who encrypted the files to decrypt the files, since that is not possible I am stuck for ideas and need to remove the encryption. Can someone help?

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Method 1: Remove encryption from a file
Only the following people can decrypt an encrypted file:
• The user who encrypted the file
• Any user who was designated as a recovery agent before the file was encrypted
• Any user who has the public key or private key for the recovery agent or the user who originally encrypted the file
• Any user who has been granted access to the file
1. The user who encrypted the file was removed/deleted
2. There is no designated recovery agent
3. No one has a public or private key
4. No other user has been granted access to the file
This is where I am stuck, not even the administrator account can access these files...
If the admin account was not set as a recovery agent before hand, your going to be stuck getting access to the files without the original account and the keys now I think. Only way to confirm this for sure I think would be to have credit card in hand and phone MS Support line.
