    no good.

still seeking answers, i'm assuming it's something to do with permissions, but like i said i already tried playing with them.

    am i missing something here?

what permission did you set it at?

i vaguely remember the same thing happening to me, it was quite a while ago. I even more vaguely remember booting DM, and ftp'ing over the ppua file or that the file was incorrectly saved as a .txt file, I'll have to look into this MYSELF as i need to do it too for my own usage

just checked mine and its set to 644, same as keylist in /var/scce
this was months ago mind you last time it was working here

A new ProvID PMK line is written when when there is an update (i.e a new PMK)

The Last two Characters of my ProvID changed to 00 i.e. XXXX00, & remained like this with each new line written to the ppua file,

so I think this is normal,

ok, thought i better have a go at getting mine to work

this is all did to get mine working. (THERE IS GURU'S HERE that no sooo much more than me) so this is just what I had to do.

You might have to other things, have it setup differently.
MINE IS SETUP TO USE NEWCAMD ON channel WIN

I left my ppua file and keylist file that last worked 3months ago in /var/scce

    i installed newcamd
    i rebooted the dm
    i changed channel to win
    IT DID NOT WORK
    i telneted into dm
    i then did cd /bin/var
    i then did ps
i could see that newcamd was running
i did kill XYZ (the newcamd process num)
    i then did ./newcamd -d
I RECIVED ERRORS MESSAGES indicating that it could not read the config file and parse error:3 ppua

I then downloaded newcamd config (DOH!!! forgot to because its late)
    I rebooted the dm

i then cd to root and repeated the steps of killing newcamd
    and running newcamd -d

    and had no errors,

    i switch channel to win
    and pics popped up

NFI why yours is being overwritten, sorry BUT I HOPE YOU GET IT GOING

but you might try telnetting in and running newcamd -d and see what errors you are getting , as it should tell you it has loaded ppua or a parse error perhaps?

edit : as OSIRUS says above, my ppua file has had a new line added since it started working again.
edit:2 i just re-read this which is the best explanation of whats what

I had my DM500 with Newcamd & ppua switched off for about 3 months,

Powered it up & had to wait about 35min to get a PMK update, to get pic's

    Working fine from then on,

    Cheers

(don't forget to wait for the PMK update, usually within about 1 hour)

this has got me totally f'ed.
i'll review the newcamd config and check for errors.
the thing is... it works when i ftp the file in..... then i guess when the roll happens it tries to update but it instead writes 0 bytes to the file.

but yeah.... i'll keep trying and post results here for anyone who needs the info.

also noticed that the yellow encryption icon isn't going green when the channel is decrypted.

it used to go green with CCcam 1.7.1 and 2.0.0

should i clear everything out and start again maybe?

nope, i think that if you running a pli image, seems to be the best going round. sorry casey ima scratching my head on this... i'm sure austech can get it working for you. (too many gurus here too not do it)...

all i am thinking, is a re-image, which is a pain... as it take time... and no guarantees it solves your prob anyway

in previous posts you mention its working. is that still the case? my limited understanding is if you want AURORA(ird1) channels then this works, if you want NDS (f0xtel) then something else has to happen first. sorry I could not help.. I am sure someone will or it has been posted somewhere.. best of luck.
