whats the reason
you also need to hack the firmware, as they are programmed to access the us server. In the usa tivo works on a monthly subscription, that's why the boxes are so cheap.....
Australia = PAL TV format. USA = NTSC format. This may effect the operation functionality of the unit as well.
iam a bogan
well im not paying 500 aus orso for 1 thats a big rip off same as what this mob foxtel wants to change stbs over ,thx hamguy2 nsw
IMO the IQ pisses all over the tivo anyway..
* Bill Paxton is the only actor to be killed by Alien, a Terminator, and the Predator.
US sourced Tivo or any other Digital AV products won’t work here. US digital broadcast is in . Australia EU and most of the world is DVB-T COFDM modulation.
Simply put a Tivo with an ATSC tuner won’t read DVB-T broadcast which require a COFDM tuner. No Pics, no EPG, no nothing.
Beside Tivo has very restrictive copyright protection. You can’t export anything from the HDD. You’d be much better of using locally selling brands like Mediastar, Topfield or Beyondwise. The Mediastar has advert skip function.
This apply to the old analogue PAL / NTSC video.
With the series 2 tivo you plug a wireless adapter into the tivo and transfer to pc with tivo desktop then watch on the pc.Tedious with 30 minute videos at about 4gig size.
I never heard of humax selling in the U.S.
With used tivo's that were disconnected before being unsubbed(still says account in good standing in the menu) you can still record,it just doesn't upgrade the guide. You are better off not letting it "phone home" because then they disable everything if there is no sub.
