Next time you get the urge to fiddle you should Mark the current position, if you mess up you know where to put it back.

Moral of this story: newbies shouldnt touch what they dont understand. Unfortunately I work in IT so I'm a fiddler by nature
Ok, here's the setup .... 2.8m solid dish pointing at Asiasat 2 with Strong 4800II receiver. Used for watching one channel only, TVE International.
It all normally works fine but last couple of weeks the signal has been breaking up (checkerboards) ocassionally overnight so I thought I'd go up to the LNB and tweak it a little by moving it slightly in or out since this has helped in the past.
Big mistake in hindsight .. now I can't get a signal lock at all regardless of LNB position.
I spent nearly an hour up there trying every position, cant understand why I cant get it back since I didnt touch the dish, all I did was loosen the LNB.
I have a sat finder but am clueless as to what to try next.
Anybody in Melbourne interested in swinging by one day after work and help align my LNB/dish for a slab of beer ? PM me

I did mark the spot. But thats the thing, even returning it to the old position didn't bring a lock.
I'm now wondering if the ladder might have lent against the dish a bit and shifted it slightly.
Are you in the Northern Suburbs?
sounds like you may have, just tilt it up a bit with someone watching the tv

2.8m solid should lock on As2 easy few members on the other forum are having signal problem in the Northern Suburbs with a smaller or mesh dish.I know this has been an issue with As2 for a while, picture breaking up could be cause by unwire TI Interference and use by date of As2 is almost overdue..

Yep, did that today and got my signal back
The signal meter only goes to about 70% so it's not nowhere near 100% ... not sure if I can get it better without special equipment but I think I'll leave it for a few days and see what happens.
If it still chequerboards overnight again it could be as as the Asiasat 2 people tell me that wireless broadband is affecting me.
Hmmm, and it still checkerboards overnight 50% of the time so might have to look into further fine tuning and/or interference filtering
