Very cool 3d graphic representation of the map of the universe as imaged using data obtained so far by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.
This is just the beginning of what is hoped to give us a detailed map of the observable universe. Already the data clearly shows the filamental structure of matter in the cosmos.
Of course this is only one of the many tools currently in use by astronomers to help us learn about the size, structure, beginning and eventual fate of the universe and our place in it.

pretty wierd how big the universe is isnt it, one of the great unknowables.

That video is from 2005..... they have done a lot more since.
