Default HD Tuner with Hard Driver.

Christmas is close and I know my wife will enjoy another PVR to record her cop shows. But I havn't found a cheap source for them.

All I am after is HD Tuner with a Hard Drive to record stuff, dual tuner isnt important cause we dont even make use of it now.

Anyone got some ideas for me.

I steer clear of ebay for anything over $20, I went to most electronic outlets like JB, WOW, Clive's, Harvey ect.. around my area. The last one I got was from Aldi but it's SD not HD and it's still working great a few years later.

After seeing a recent catalog for the major retailers selling names like Mephong, HOOdungdid, cheochoppchop sueee and some more totaly unpronouncable names, I cant see how anyone today bothers with a brand name on items or the company that sells them so long as its cheap and has a returnable warranty.
Even the 'Best' companies buy by the container load, sell as is or rebadge, whack on their margin, advertise it as tho it was made exclusively for them and is the 'Top of the Line' and push it out the door while decrying others who clearly state they are discount sellers.
How many manufactures today whose names were once synonomous with quality now dont have 'side doors' where they sell off cheaper rebadged versions of their product or worse, have gone 'Off shore' and produce even cheaper versions ???

I was told recently of an off road tyre maker whose name has been considered the epitome of tyre makers for the 4WD set now sells a cheaper version under a different name.
Is there no end to this perfidery?

It's a marketing ploy from way back.
Change the packaging and you essentially change the product.
So many manufactures, produce product under a variety of 'Brands' and at a number of different price points, thus essentially creating for them selves a brand new (and lucrative) market.
