LOL ! ok i see what you have done. your doing everything right, its just the way you have your windows xp set up is the problem.

winrar/winzip is recognizing the IMG file a winzip extension. just ignore that, just put the file in the root of garmin....

to make life easier for you (and everyone else that's got the same windows setup) ... here is what you can do.

    1. open my computer/windows explorer
    2. click tools
    3. click folder options
    4. click view tab
    5. tick OFF that stupid HIDE EXTENSION box.... that's what is causing you the grief and confusion

this is how i got mine setup

Well I changed the view folder settings to illustrated pic of yours, I unrared it ,it still come out a s a zip file but .was named a IMG file . so I put it into the garmin folder in the root of my sd card .. I should be able to proceed to unlock it from here ?? I hope ...

Don't worry about what windows is calling the file.... as long as its gmapprom.img -- you don't have to unlock the map, its already unlocked... just have to unlock the software as per instructions

ben, is your storage card called StorageCard or Storage Card ... you may have to modify it to suite your device... or maybe your device is SDMMC ?

EDIT: sorry i meant modify/edit garmin.mscr with notepad

    Question no GPS signal

Hi all,I have a navigator G35 gps unit currently with Destinator 7,Igo8,and GARMIN for Windows CE with Australia + NZ 2010 Map installed.
Destinator and Igo8 work fine, however Garmin wont detect any satellites?
I have the com port set to 7 (which is what Destinator and Igo8 are set to).
    Any suggestions?
    Regard,crowy.

    Default Hopeless

My Nokia N95 8gb only has 8 digit Card ID. Keygen still provides a code however it doesn't appear to be working. Still get that damn buy, trial, or use garmin device screen.
    Any ideas??

Im also getting the toolhelp required error. i removed the line saying to kill explorer(which is the line that brings the error) but without it, you can doubleclick garmin.mscrs all day and nthing happens.

PS i gave up on the IGO....thought i'd try this instead. Trip from brisbane to tamworth in two days time....going to suck without a gps

what would the command line be in the sys.ini(i'm guessing) to make the system path read a particular directory? because i can put multiple copies of the toolhelp file around the place but it just doesnt seem to want to see it. and if i copy it to the flash disk its gone when i reboot.
Tried installing garmin on the flash disk(internal) and also the SD.....same problem.

    cheers

Jay, garmin for CE is one of the harder ones to get going.... i suggest you try another navigator (see link in my signature) - with garmin CE, it HAS to load explorer, otherwise it wont work, why you ask ? I have no idea, it just wants explorer.exe to load.... try googling this toolhelp.dll, i have not got this error but lots of people have, its annoying and i dont know what it means ?
