    Talking Nav N Go iGO Amigo for Windows Mobile, CE, PDA & PNA with Australia Map and Extras

    If there are any mistakes, please PM me to let me know so that I can fix them.
    Please notify me of dead links as well, I'll do my best to fix it.

    for most of you, it will work the first time, however some of you will have problems,
    some minor and some major. All devices are different and you will get many different types
    of errors. I can't list all the issues here but I want to ask people to help each other out
    and support eachother if someone asks for help. I'll do my best as well.

    If there are newer versions of what I uploaded here, please let me know, please dont just say
    there is a newer one, please supply the link or upload it yourself. Thanks

    THINGS TO KNOW:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) English language only
    2) English voices only
    3) Australia map only
    4) You may need to edit the sys.txt for your device, it may not work straight away
    5) If you get errors or trouble starting the application ask here for help or google it, because google is your friend.
    6) Includes speedcam.txt which is 29kb
    7) Includes the 5.0 mulit res GRO file (35mb)
    8) No need to activate anything
    9) Yes, the map, dem, buildings, speedcam, POI, voices and TTS files are the same as iGO8
    10) If your resolution is not correct, open sys.txt and change the settings to suit your device, for example:

    [interface]
    resolution_dir="400_240"

    [rawdisplay]
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    CHANCE TO YOUR DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS

    [interface]
    resolution_dir="320_240"

    [rawdisplay]
    screen_x=320
    screen_y=240

    11) Another neat trick is that if you have iGO8 installed on the same device here is what you can put in the sys.txt so that Amigo can use the iGO8 content folder, rather then having the same files in the Amigo folder. This can take up unnecessary space on your memory card (you may need to modify the path for your device or settings)

    [folders]
    content="\Storage Card\IGO8\content"

    WHAT DEVICE DOES THIS WORK ON?
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Any Chinese DVD/GPS systems for cars (confirmed working on my Chinese In-Car DVD/GPS)
    2) Any PNA that runs Windows CE 5.0 core
    3) Most PNA devices that run Windows CE 4.2 core
    4) Any Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.5 devices (confirmed working on my HTC TyTN II Mobile Phone, HTC Dopod 838 Pro, HTC Touch Pro 2 and mio168 running windows mobile 2003 with CE 4.2 core)

    WHAT TO DOWNLOAD:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) REQUIRED - Nav N Go iGO 8.4.2.95590 June 23 2009
    2) REQUIRED - Australia (Australia 2008.Q3 NAVTEQ [081205]
    3) OPTIONAL - (will work without it)
    4) OPTIONAL - (Australia.dem - will work without it, but wont look sexy)
    5) OPTIONAL - (TTS) (will work without it)

    PREPERATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) OPTIONAL - Back up any previous versions of amigo data that you may have (eg: poi's, skins, maps, speed cams etc).
    2) OPTIONAL - Uninstall/Delete any previous amigo versions/directories.
    3) If your CE device / PDA / PNA / Car GPS uses a SD card for the maps and software, then you'll need a SD card reader for your computer or laptop or you can plug your device in via the USB to transfer data that way, depending on your device.
    3) REQUIRED - Have installed.

    INSTALLATION:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    1) Extract [Nav N Go iGO Amigo 8.4.95590.rar] that you downloaded above (using winrar)

    2) Copy the [Amigo] folder to the root of your SD memory card
    3) Extract the map.rar and copy the Australia.fbl to \iGO8\content\map
    4) If you downloaded the optional stuff, Extract the [buildings.rar], [dem.rar] & [TTS_LOQ.rar] files to a temp folder.

    5) Copy Australia.3dl and Australia_Petrol.3dl to \iGO8\content\building
    6) Copy Australia.dem to \iGO8\content\dem
    7) Copy [TTS_LOQ] folder to the root of Amigo (not the content folder) along with the dll files. The DLL files go in the root as well where the exe is.
    8) Copy the tts voice zip files to \iGO8\content\voices

    8) Start Amigo with Amigo_95590.exe

    That is it ! Enjoy

    Hollowman - is there any benefit from running amigo? From what I have seen it just seems to have a simpler interface.

    try looking in the sys.txt for [GPS] settings... if they are not there, add them

    it should look something like this..

    [GPS]
    port=2
    baud=4800

    (port and baud to your device obviously)

    Hi hollowman, I followed your instructions but when i start iGo Amigo, it loads the main screen with a thumbnail of the map on the left and 3 buttons on the right. After 5 seconds it blacks out and exits. If i quickly press the More.. button on the right it takes me to the menu where it works fine but then if i go back to the map it blacks out and exits. I have a RoadKing Chinese 800x480 system, what am I doing wrong?

    I did get it working once when i removed the maps and only left Basemap in there, and i removed a lot of stuff from the sys.txt this is all that was left:

    Code:
    [project]
    name="igo_easy"

    [rawdisplay]
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    [interface]
    maxzoom2d=6000000
    show_exit=1
    defaulttilt3d=7600

    [map]
    3d_max_tiltlevel=10000
    3d_max_zoomlevel=3000
    3d_min_zoomlevel=40
    3d_max_zfar=2000

    [smartzoom]
    minangle=0
    maxangle=80

    [tts]
    tts_buffer=131072
    announce_exit_directions=1
    tts_logics=3
    priority="HIGH"
    always_say_road_names=1
    announce_street_name=1
    skip_exit_numbers=0

    [debug]
    tts_min_ready_ogg=1
    tts_getaway_time=100
    sound_q_length=200

    [timezone]
    sync_os_timezone=0
    reset_os_timezone=0

    [roundaboutcam]
    enabled=0 ;(1)
    centery=20 ;(50)

    [screen]
    menu_animation=1
    I also had none of the optional stuff (DEM, TTS or 3d buildings) but a bit useless because the aus map wasnt there

    OMG you are a GOD! It worked perfect, well almost. It lagged out and gave out of memory errors so much so i decided to remove the optional content in your post. I also had to add the GPS tag to the sys.txt cause it wasnt finding the receiver.

    So for anyone using the RoadKing and wants Igo Amigo, download the minimum stuff only and sys.txt should be:

    Code:
    [project]
    name="igo_easy"

    [rawdisplay]
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    [interface]
    maxzoom2d=6000000
    show_exit=1
    defaulttilt3d=7600

    [debug]
    tts_min_ready_ogg=1
    tts_getaway_time=100
    sound_q_length=200

    [timezone]
    sync_os_timezone=0
    reset_os_timezone=0

    [roundaboutcam]
    enabled=0 ;(1)
    centery=20 ;(50)

    [screen]
    menu_animation=1

    [gps]
    port=2
    baud=4800
    Well worth the 1000000 trips i made from my room to my car downstairs.

    Thanks heaps Hollowman

    no worries champ... try also turning off menu animation seems that your device is old
    actually anohter thing you can try is put all your 3d buildings, terrain etc ON. but change the voice to a non TTS voice (just a normal voice) that should work ok... i think the TTS is killing your device.

    Let me know how you go.
