Relook 400 - What HDD's are used ?

going to put in a HDD into my Relook 400 finally..

What have people found to work good / bad etc ??

OH does the Relook "format" the hdd to its own specs after instal ??

or does it need to be fat/fat32/NTFS before installation ??

OR was it done after installation & the Relook did it on 1st power up ??

From memory I did it from the Relook menu. I certainly had to format it in the 400.

Yeah..

OK update.. on reboot after hdd instal , the Relook 400 will detect the hdd and ask to format it...

BUT , now I have hooked up the cable for 2nd tuner , it doesnt get pics except after a reboot on the fox channel it was on.. Aurora channels are fine though..

Any ideas as to whats wrong ??

Well I have removed the cable from tuner 2
deleted the tuner 2 settings

removed the hdd & still NO JOY with Blue..

anyone able to help please..

sat signal is all good & FTA/Aurora etc is normal pic
CD also works , just nothing via Blue on the relook..

Which image? How do you have 2nd tuner set up - via multiswitch or looped?

I don't know the group buy image. Try it has better options for specifying tuners (you can set it to default to 1 or 2 or leave it on smart), & also shows whats happening when you're recording.

I hope it has IDIOT proof directions for flashing as I havent done it before..
Never had the need till now when I cant record what I want to..

Get a copy of PCEditor from denktenk, you can use it to flash the box over the network. If you are running standalone, you will need Flash Tools (also available on denktenk) to flash over usb.

I installed a 300GB Western Digital Caviar HDD to my 400S when I first purchased it a few years ago.

As several others have indicated, the HDD is formatted in the receiver via the appropriate menu.

I have not experienced any problems even when changing to different images (software).

Using mgcamd and newcs from the group buy has worked just fine for me in a dual tuner situation.

Did you change to Turbokongen image? Which cam are you using? What do you have in /var/bin/init.d?

I'm using a bluey (currently in a DM600 - but that's for automatic card upgrades) with CCcam 2.0.0 with no problems. I have had it in the 400s as well & have used mgcamd & newcs as well as earlier versions of CCcam. CCcam is the easiest to get going though.

When you put your bluey back into the provider box do you get pictures? You may have to get f*xtel to give it a kick if you don't.

Can you post your cam configs if you still have issues so we can help diagnose the problems.

Hi there, still running the group buy image as I have been at work & no time as yet to work out the flashing etc part..

It all was working fine CS to 3 DM500's via wifi & cat5 internal network.
Blue in Relook with camd3(v894.B7) & newcs (RC9)
card in bottom slot.

DM's with Jade & cccam 2.1.2

As i siad, it was all working great , then I installed the seagate hdd & the settings for tuner2, on 1st boot, hdd was formatted & pic was there on Relook until i changed channels. then blank screen, CS still worked though...

Removed hdd / tuner 2 details and after a few reboots etc , it was all working again as it is now...
Problem is "what settings" if any have i missed that stops the relook & blue working was it power draw from hdd ??? or just a setting i didnt find ???

What do you have in /var/bin/init.d?
All i see is a "short cut" icon to folder labelled 4.1sh & a single file 2.1sh

You are better off using the card in one of the DMs. The 400s cannot update the card, but the DMs with 2.1.2 will. 2.1.sh should be:

4.1.sh is a symlink to a shell script (usually in /var/scripts) that starts the cam automatically. I think you would be better off with CCcam in the 400 (use either 1.7.1 or 2.0.0 - both available from denktenk). You will also need to capmtserver. Both CCcam & capmtserver should be in /var/emu.

I copy /var/[bin, emu, etc, scripts] to /var/data, and then make the originals symlinks to the ones in /var/data. ie

On the server dm you need an F line for each client box - eg:
F user1 password1
F user2 password2

On the clients you only need a C line - eg:

You can see that the default also starts newcs, but it isn't needed in my setup, so I just modified the script.

It's only setup for one card - you look like you are using 2.

I do have an Aurora card in a cam..

that was working fine all through this problem..
