So, does it matter if the map folder is "Australia_830_2290" or should it be renamed to just "Australia"?
Also, in the 'insert_meta_from_Map_here' folder how many files should be in there, and where do they come from? I think this is where my problem lies.
Thanks for both your help so far.
Personally, i dont think it matters of the folder name, but some people will dissagree... just make sure it has Australia or Australia_830_2290.

In the insert_meta_from_Map_here you need Australia.pna and Australia-40.meta - you can get these files from the map folder

I just wanted to make sure that you guys know that TomTom application v7.910 with Map of Australia v835.2420 IS COMPATIBLE because im looking at it right now on my CE4.2 device.

TomTom application v7.915 with Map of Australia v835.2420 IS ALSO COMPATIBLE as I've done it on 2 devices (windows mobile 6)

Also make sure your using Australia-69.meta, not 70, as you can see below, 70 is for a different build

    61 49 C8 F5 A2 46 15 44 F4 FE CD 04 D3 7E 39 1D Australia-70.meta ; Australia 835_2419 70
    F8 85 4F 45 05 FF 61 B6 6E 54 3E B8 33 B5 7B 53 Australia-69.meta ; Australia 835_2420 69

i guess it still does not explain why "no map found" huh ....
The ONLY thing i can think of is that you guys may be using a incompatible map... but i have to be wrong in saying that, coz you downloaded the map i supplied (and works for me) ....

I'm going downstairs now to my car and going to upgrade my map to 835.2420 on my chinese dvd/gps ce5.0 system.... (im on 2290 in my car lol) cross fingers it does not give me sh!t

Ok, here is what I know and what I did....

I went to upgrade my map in my car, so i took out the sd card from my pna (in car dvd/gps system that runs CE5.0) shoved it in the card reader on the PC.
completely deleted my old map and replaced my new map with a folder name of "Australia_835_2420" I then completed the map activation procedure using keygen [KG3.1G] (it doesn't actually matter which keygen you use, as long as the meta.txt is there and up to date)

anyway, i activated the map, put my SD card back in, then it worked 1st time. So here I am with a new map.

A few months ago, i was trying to get it working myself, i didn't know much about tt and activating it etc.. I followed downunders35m's tutorial etc... now because i always load TomTom Navigator.exe, I thought to myself, i don't really need mobilenavigator.exe and TT7BOT.exe so i deleted them. Put my SD card back in and guess what ?

NO MAP FOUND ! (even though it was working a second ago!)

Opps, i put the 2 exe files back on, loaded it back up, again "no maps found" now i started to panic, thinking that i stuffed it up and im going to be in the same boat as you guys lol...

I deleted the map completely again, and recopied it, re-activated it, etc... THEN it worked, back to normal !

I could be wrong, but I THINK you may need ... its the "other" files from my original post (or the navigator folder from downunders thread)

Here is some suggestions as to what you can do, no garentee but may help or work.

    1. Download "other.rar" and copy the content of navigator folder to your navigator folder, overwrite everything (for god sake back up your original folder before overwriting all the files lol) So you will have TomTom Navigator.exe, mobilenavigator.exe and TT7BOT.exe and a bunch of other stupid dll files...

    2. I noticed that there is a CurrentMap.dat file in the navigator folder... open that in notepad, you will be pleasantly surprised that it has a path of your map.... see if its correct, if it is, leave it, if its not obviously change it. Also note that sometimes your device could be "storage card" or "storagecard" or "sdmmc" or "SDMMC DISK"... find out what your device is, then change it accordingly. I have \StorageCard\Australia_835_2420\ (it may have some special characters in the front of that path, if so just leave it), now save it (dont save it as txt, just go file>save that's it)

    3. Try loading mobilenavigator.exe and TT7BOT.exe and experiment with it, see what happens

    4. delete your bif files (root and navigator folder) let tt re-generate it, dont know why, but it could help lol ... there may be info stuck in there that shouldn't be in there ?

    5. For the time being, delete/move the poi files out of the map folder, poi files are .bmp .ov2 and .ver (my car pna takes 2min to load with all those poi's in there)

I hope these steps help... fingers crossed !

Here is something else i figured out.... have a look at picture...
i noticed that it actually displays my folder name, then the actual map version number under it... i experimented and changed the folder name to something different, and it still worked...

so your folder can be "Zimbabwe_830_2290" and you have the Australian map in there, and it should still work, as long as the correct files are there.... just note that having the map activated or not, it shouldnt matter, it should still display it on the list, rather then say no map found.

Hi, its a Chinese WinCE 5 Core and has GPS Navigator on the front bottom.

Hollowman, I think you're right. I kept thinking about it and remembered that in previous installations (not on this unit) I had those other files you mentioned. I'm going to try again.

I got hold of the files from a previous attempt, these were from Downunder35m and this is the thread:

I deleted everything from the SD card and replaced them with these files, but I kept the .txt file to load TomTom Navigator.exe
When I fired up the pna it loaded navigator ok (in German unfotunately) and Australia map was recognised but needed activation. Funny thing is I didn't change the CurrentMap.dat file at all but it still found it.
Now I am going to try to activate the map and see if it works.

Hehe... trouble activating the map, so start again....now, for some unknown reason, I started at the beginning and I get the 'not enough memory' error, even though I have done everything exactly the same as before!
I'm now going to format the SD card and try again. I was really getting pi..ed off with this, but now I want to understand what's going on.
Might have some lunch first, at the rate this is going I might need some sustenance!

Ok, I've hit a dead end. Try as I might I can get as far as having the map showing, but as soon as I generate the .dct file for it, I then get the "not enough memory" error.
Now I've tried this on three GPS PNA's and on two I get the results above, but on another which is WinCE 4.2, I can't get anything happening.

A while ago I managed to get an earlier version of TT working but the screen kept changing colours and the navigation instructions were being delivered too late, so my guess is TT will only work satisfactorily in some select PNA's but not others.
Bad luck it won't work for me, so back to Igo I go...hehe.
Cheers guys and thanks for your suggestions, suptob.

Well, I'm still mucking around with the WinCE 5 unit and I just can't get the map activated, I even went back to older maps and still no go even though the correct .dct file is generated.

I got all three units from ebay, must be unlucky to have chosen the ones that don't work with TT...which ones did you get?
