My unit is WinCE 5 and it has the navigation path so it should be ok but I just can't get the map activated. Can't justify buying any more as I have three sitting here (including a 7" unit which I bought from my brother-in-law), but thanks for the offer.
Might look at other GPS forums to see if there's a solution, in the meantime I'll just use Igo which is in itself a pretty good program.
    Cheers, suptob.

I got all three units from ebay, must be unlucky to have chosen the ones that don't work with TT...which ones did you get?
I asume that you are putting the map folder "Australia" into a folder called "My Documents"? as that is where some tomtom's expect to find the maps.

I tried that yesterday and it made no difference. There's no "my Documents" folder in this installation but the map is clearly there, just can't activate it.

suptob, are you using option 1 or 2 in the activation process ? maybe try ... just put your SD card in the usb port and launch the keygen... it will detect your map/software, then go to activate map...

Ok, I downloaded and unrared the file and my anti virus detected two trojans which were successfully quarantined, so no big deal. But there's only a .bat file to run? I ran it to see what would happen but there was no .dct file generated, am I missing something?
Oh yeah, I did try all methods in the activation process and even an easy activator which I found in other posts.

its not a virus.... its just the way the keygen works...
disable your virus scanner and run the exe.

Ok, ran the keygen ok, generated a new .dct file and still comes up with "map not activated" message, guess it's not meant to be.
    Cheers.

I'll try it on the laptop, then if that doesn't work I'll put the 7" unit on ebay and get one of those you recommended instead.

    yah good idea...
in my opinion, a chinese gps should run all the applications, not just some...
at least then tt will work, and the rest should be good too...

im running on my chinese car dvd/gps

    destinator
    garmin
    amigo
    igo8
    ndrive
    polnav
    route66
    smart2go
    sygic
    tomtom

without a problem (all latest version and maps) on a 4gb sdhc card

Well, all my gps units are Chinese and I have been able to run Destinator, Polnav and Igo at various times, it's only good old TomTom that's a problem.
Like I said earlier, I'm quite happy with Igo but did like the ability to change/create voices in TomTom and I also prefer the map view (maybe 'cause I'm used to it).
I have TT running on my cellphone using a separate bluetooth gps unit, so that will have to do for a while.

got it going a Noob problem!!! i left the mapinfo out of the map folder.......doHH!
not getting any GPS sats to lock onto.....will do a search on google

Most of the time "other NMEA" with 4800 baud is a good start - you have to find the com port yourself.... found this and working thanks for the tut hollowman
will do tweaking with voices and speed cams. your answer hollowman only had the three files in the map folder *.meta,*.png,*.dct.....

    thanks

hollowman, I really hate giving up on something when other people seem to be able to get it going....so I mucked around with the demonfatal method and I managed to get it going. The only problems encountered are:
    *Takes long time to load
    *Voice volume too low
    *Occasionally freezes

I'm going to try it again, this time only to step 24 in the tutorial and see if it will work ok without the extra steps.

TTom might work better on your unit, for some reason I seem to have the ones which don't like that program.
I agree. Igo works well, I especially like the TTS, but I had been using Tom Tom for many years and got used to it. If Igo could have the voices available in TomTom I probably wouldn't bother with it anymore.

the reason why it takes so long to load and use, is because of all the POI's loaded in there... delete (or move) the poi files out of the map folder... (bmp, ov2 etc) but leave the speed cam files in there

Just so everyone knows... the POI's in the map folder slow down your PNA/PDA SIGNIFICANTLY !! ... especially if you have them all turned on or a lot of them on.... havin a slow or unbranded PNA does not help the situation either.
I had issues with it in my double din car chinese dvd/gps ... i had about 20 pois on give or take, and man, it killed my unit lol .... i couldnt work out why it was so slow... then it suddenly hit me, the pois... i turned them all off (excetp speed cams) then it worked ok

I THINK the reason why it kills the PNA, is coz all the BMP's are displaying at once (even tho you cant see all of them at once) and are all in the ram, which there is not much off...

SO, basically, the POIs are GOOD but not good for old PNA's that dont have any balls to run it... it takes ages to load when you start tt as well... (mine takes 2 min lol)
