i didnt know nokia made stand alone gps units ? hhmmm another toy lol
im glad to help and good to hear my hard work is being appreciated
Hey All,
Recently I picked up a Nokia 330 (Nokia's first standalone GPS) for $20 from DSE. The receipt noted the first owner had returned the unit and repairs had been done - problems updating Route66, and it was giving him wrong directions.
After doing some browsing and fiddling around with it I have managed to successfuly install IGO8.3. I pretty much followed Hollowman's tute
but
1. i had to rename the .exe to "R66navigate7"
2. and in the sys.txt i deleted everything and typed:
[device]
type="NOK_330"
Considering my previous GPS experience was using Garmin Mobile XT on a mobile phone (an s60v3 I bought for a ridiculous price at its release date), I am quite impressed with the setup. I've just tested it around the block and the text to speech function works like a charm. I will be travelling to NZ soon (I found a map from another site but it is only 2008Q3) and can't wait to put it to good use.
Many thanks to this forum (especially Hollowman for his tute)
