Default Can't Remote View over internet. New setup

Just installed a bigpond adsl modem with Static IP for remote viewing nothing else running on the connections.
When I use a cross-over cable straight to the dvr with laptop I can see the web servers page.
I've fwd all required ports to the dvr's IP and disabled all firewall and intursion detection setting from the modem. But I'm still unable to gain access over the net.
When I ping the IP of the modem over the net it gets blocked.

I had the same problem with the telstra modem.

    Redirected all ports, etc, etc.

Sometimes it would work other times not.

So, I changed the modem to a netcomm and all works great.

No idea, as you haven't explained what type of DVR it is you have connected. Although It should require an ethernet internet connection. Do you have a port open ? Try using Port 8000.

you should be able to type into a browser http:quadsipaddress:8000 and a page should open up.

Depends on what modem they issued you with. I had a customer who was with Little Puddle and the modem was the problem, so we swapped the modem and bingo it worked. Then after the first internet bill I received another phone call, Little Pond counts uploads as downloads and charges /MB for excess usage.

There are some out there that don't include uploads in your download quota, of them TPG comes in at first place. I connect customers to 80GB plans for the same price as 12GB plans from their competitors, and they can upload to their hearts content.
