I would think Cairns will be OK. It booms in on the Gold Coast with a 90cm dish but you need a universal lnb...they are pretty cheap.

Hmmm...not so sure now after looking at the beam map

Cairns will be marginal. By luck I happen to live in the "sweet spot" of the beam

He's using a 1.5m dish so I reckon it shouldn't be a problem. Going by that map the 43.9db line goes through where I am and it's suggested to use a 95-120cm dish. I get away with an 85cm. Might not work in bad weather though.

11610 H comes in nicely but nothing on 11174 H.
Time to tweak the alignment and skew. I've got a 45 degree skew happening on the H-H motor.

Canal+ and Cinema Premier are FTA at the moment on the 11610 H.

Owe... just realised that my lnb is not universal which would explain why no channels scan on the 11174 transponder. FTA Canal+ and CInema Premier didn't last long either!

at the risk of showing i am an idiot,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how do you know which lnb to use for each sat????????? I have the 10700 from D2........my other dish has the same pointed at c1
and i have a 90cm in the shed with a sharp 11700 -- 2.75 setup on it. Has the separate outlets on it. I have not used this dish yet was given to me, ex pay tv dish that some one no longer wanted on their roof. Was going to changed the lnb as can't be certain what shape it is in

    Folks,

I always buy my LNB's from Sciteq - Perth even though I'm a Sydney Sider

AND always buy Universal's......................they cover the full 1GHz bandwidth + I always buy quad's................you never know how many STB's you will inherit

BUT now, the folks like SHARP have their new 1GHz wide 10.7 LO LNB's out for C1 / D3, no 22kHz a la universal, just a straight flat spectrum response over that 1GHz of spectrum.

20x years ago that would have cost you a $M ++, now it's $30 with change.

Ho hum et bon nuit sur la 180,

    Phillip,

Universals cover 10700-12750 which is 2GHz.
    I thought all 10.7 LO LNB's covered 1GHz (11700-12750).

So you still need a universal for 2GHz. Reading your post it appears that there's a new wide 10.7 that covers the same bandwidth as a universal.

    Leroy,

    I assume that's your new boat ??

On what river is it moored ??

It's a bit smaller than the QE2, but hopefully 'tis yours.

    Au revior,

    Au revior,
    Hi Phillip,

I've now had it for almost 10 yrs and now the family can enjoy it also fishing on the mighty Murray river with me. Yes it's a bit smaller than the QE2 but it is comfortable enough for us
    I shall be in contact.

Leroy it is a offset, the guys I deal with at NAS are great and are happy too swap or return gear if needed. I got microelectronics universal lnb dual output. Given to me at a great price as it was orered for a rather large boat but was the wrong physical shape apperently, as it was something they don't normally stock they are happy for me to return it, they guys there will even connect it to one of the setups and test it if i want.
Sunday night or monday morning i will have a play if i am not pulling my dishes in for a cyclone

Ummm i am sure that i mentioned i am located in far q ..................cairns. I spoke to a fairly clued up tech and he said that the lyngsat maps are fairly conservative and i should have no problem getting 701 ku..............like i said as of sunday lunch there cyclone watch from somewhere around cooktown to cardwell......so although probably not necessary i might pull my dishes in. Dam i like the french to.....!!!!!!!!!!!
