Sorry - thread title should be 47LG50FD.
Can't rename or delete it after creation. :-(
Greetings all.
I have an LG LCD 47LG50FG with firmware V3.01.0
When trying to play Virtual Console games on my Wii with a component cable the TV displays 'Invalid Format'.
The composite cable works fine, and have verified my Wii + my cable on a Samsung, so the common fault is the TV.
Some Googling reveals indications that the firmware is at fault and requires and update.
To date, no response from LG customer support, nor some local (smaller) LG service agents (x 2) on the Gold Coast. It's been well over a month now.
Can anyone suggest the best mechanism to obtain an update?
I purchased the unit new, still in warranty, etc.
Thanks.

All those later models are USB upgrade.
I havent had that problem but that means nothing.
Will check for you
Thanks Oscar.
Yes, the unit does have a USB port, labelled Service Only.
I experienced the problem when I changed to the component cable (so the output in the Wii Opera Browser was crisper).
It was only after some searching I found a reference to the LG's 'Invalid Format' and Wii threads. Seems common in the UK with Wii Virtual Console games.
My cable on a Samsung works fine and the original component cable is also fine (but not so good when trying to use the web browser).
Thanks again for checking this out.
PM me but it aint for this problem ,It is however the latest.
Are you up to doing it.
It may not make things better.

I realise this thread is a bit old now but I have spent the last 2 days searching for the latest firmware update for the same TV as above. It is on the same firmware too ie. 47LG50FD 3.01.0 The issue I am trying to solve is a screen flicker when LG blue ray player is connected via HDMI port. Works fine when connected via Composite cables. I have tried adjusting the video settings on the blue ray but nothing fixes it. All comments appreciated.

I am still waiting for LG Support to get back to me. I was hoping possibly for a place to download the latest firmware as I have no worries with updating the software myself but have had no luck finding the appropriate .epk file to DL.
Got a response from LG Support, basically pointing me back at the same website that I had told them didn't have the firmware download for this TV. Sooo back to hunting around. Or I suppose I just call a local technician to come round and fix it.....
I've just sent off an email to LG Australia support. I'll see if I get any joy. My wanting to update the firmware now is mostly to play and see if I can enable the USB port form movie playback as described in a number of posts and sites, but specifically for European models.
I'll give the serial port connection a try this week sometime and possibly the infrared method on my older laptop (no IR on this one) or crack out my ancient Palm Pilot.
