Default headrest TFT screens for the kids

Has anyone bought or tried these headrest with built in dvd/TFT from ebay.

    example;

Just looking for some feedback. Bought myself a new mazda 6 and it has a sunroof so I cant use the roof mounted player (for the kids) I had on the Territory now.

so when you're travelling....you make them read books or draw? Can we trade kids? I enjoy the peace and quiet when they are amused for 10hrs.

nah...it's the ideal time to hold them captive and do some of that parenting shit that we read about in books.

You know...relate to each other....talk, discuss...

I saw a group of guys in a 4WD running a porno DVD one nite, I wonder if its legal ???

plain as day in cars behind him...

Learn to relate to your children. Play . Discuss interesting concepts. Discuss relationships. Play with maths alphabet etc. All depends on kids age where u pitch it of course. But car DVD for kids .... come on

In the end you get out what you put in .... a shitty 'DVD' or a bit of the real 'you'.

PS put the (preferably larger size dog between the kids on the back seat. When one lashes out at his/her sibling, they hit the dog .. resulting in hours of soppy apologies .... to the dog.

Ok I agree in principal. But reality is after an hour they get bored. The dvd is to keep them entertained....my daughter uses mp3 player....my son likes to play video games....Farmsky I relate to them plenty and they know it. This is for long trips and gives them something fun too. I'm sure they want a break from the parents fun games and chit chat.
Christ It's not like it's used everytime they step into the car!!!!

Geez I'm glad I asked now. I wasn't asking if it worth putting a dvd in my car or if I should spend my driving time more wisely but whether the units were good value or not.

i agree with farmsky, when i was a kid and doing long distance driving with my parents we used to play "car games" and we also had a books called I SPY. My book was full of cars. My sisters book was full of signs nad stuff.

You get Fifty points for something like a Lambo or Ferrrari, you get 2 points for a Holden. Complete the boo, send it off and get a little badge aying you completed the book.

    Good stuff when your 8

My mate purchased the 9" version TFT screen that came with the headphones.
He was very impressed with the picture quality and what the dvd player would actually read for the price.(~$500)

His only complaint was that of the wireless headphones that seem to suffer from playback glitches.

Might have something to do with your lovely avatar !

    I couldn't resist.
I must make the comment that at differnt times when I have been on the sat forums, my wife has questioned the need for those sexy and saucy avatars.

Just get your kids an WII or Xbox, head down to Cash Converters see if they got a couple of second hand 3" or 7" LCD monitors, tie it around with velcro fasteners around the headrest and you'll never hear a word from your kids.

Thanks...thats what I wanted to know.

I had the xbox in the territory before and it was a pain having to start the invertor then the xbox, so I was kinda trying to get away from it this time. I decided to bite the bullet with the screens(as they do divx too) and also hooked up to a carpc to handle everything else(ie gps, mp3, bluetooth) with up front controlling it. Sounds like alot but will be easier than the xbox and a little bit easier to control.

$500 delivered by a local supplier. There is another unit exactly the same with dvd, gps, divx all built in with no external pc required. I'm trying to find the details on the OS of the unit, might be good for tomtom.

my son fitted 4 of these to his mitsubishi bus to keep the kids quite while traveling long distances and the only problem he found was matching the colours to his seat so he had the covers re-dyed at a local fabric place
with regards to there quality he has had no problems at all easy to fit easy for the kids to operate

Cheers! I got them yesterday in the mail. The quality is really good, screen is sharp and they play divx and +-R discs.
They match the black leather pretty good too. The ir headphones work perfect and the sound quality is not bad(better than I thought it would be).
