Default Staying Alive In Joburg (Doco)

No info found @ Imdb for this doco. so no image

I am only posting this because I thought the cinematography was worth posting about it after watching it. (They capture some really nice images).

Anyway, basically its a documentary about the buildup to 2010 world cup.

It touches on poverty, and the government meandering to FIFA'S wishes, quite a bit on urban development.

I did not walk away feeling more informed about Joburg (truth be told - i walked away thinking about chaos!), but really appreciated the images that were shown.

    Not for everyone this one.

edit: going by the youtube 1/6 might be watchable online! cool.

If you feed ducks at a pond, chances are your bound to feed a goose or two without even knowing it.

Having been there, used public transport and driven around it, it is indeed chaotic and a very dangerous place - Capetown on the other hand is completely the opposite.

I would say that as with any country there are areas that you just dont go into.
    South Africa is no different.

Yeah we have our problems and yeah there is crime, beggers, vagrants and criminals on some of the streets, but its not as bad as people will have you believe.

Anyone stupid enough to wonder into the hot spots are basically looking for trouble and then cry outthat South Africa is a big bad place....filled with criminals. Just eint so..........

We have a saying here...AFRICA IS NOT FOR SISSIES.

I dont know, while i was at a nightclub with mates there was a shootout outside, and i witnessed a car jacking where the driver was shot thru the windscreen then the perp drove off in the car. On the other side though, i liked Pretoria and drove down to Capetown via Kimberley and then along the garden route up to PE and East london on to Durban and out to Ladysmith where some other friends live and had a ball.

Also saw a mugging in Nairobi in the middle of the day so yes Africa is certainly not for sissies or for dopey tourists - need to be alert all the time.
