    Default Epg

Was playing with different skins and with one, it gave me the choice of a simple EPG or 5 channel / 6 hour view when pushing the RED button.
I've gone thru all the skins (many times) to try and get back the 5/6 EPG, but to no avail All I have now is the simple EPG.
Do I need to edit a file to get the 5/6 view back or is there a setting somewhere I can't find? lol
    Cheers

    Nah, didn't work.

Had a read of the Dreambox_For_Newbies_by_Fedora PDF and found that I was after Multiview EPG
Switched to Neutrino-style skin, pushed a few buttons, then the option came up for EPG / Multi EPG when pushing the RED button.
Switched back to Gemini Blueline skin and Multi EPG is available

    Now happy. lol

How to stuff up the tuner in your DM7020.

As well as not earthing your LNB why not do as this bloke did and fit a nice long screw to hold the tuner in?
(it comes shipped with no screw, it's not a manufacturing mistake)

results are as per the pics....unit gets too hot to touch the case.

here's one for the search engines...DM7020 UC0 error.

It means the IC bus can't communicate with the tuner.

    The tuner is stuffed.

done the mod to the 12v rail for large hard drives and run an earth cable to the lnb. used the supplied power cable with a 3 pin plug and earth wire going to an alligator clip. fitted a wd 320 gig h.d. , spun it up and it holds 12.3v nicely.....

so if it blows up now it's not my fault z80....

    Your so kind, lol.

Figured it out and all's well

Puzzling though. You can telnet via root with no password, yet ftp needs a password. That's what threw me. Set a password for root and it works

    Nope...sorry, warranty void,

you should always use the RED alligator clip.

From the handbook the sequence to do this is push the "TV Mode Button" then hold down Shift for about 3 seconds which will cause the TV mode button to flash.. this is where it goes pear shaped as the DREAM button flashes twice.
If i continue and put in a 4 digit code, the remote doesn't recognize this (its supposed to flash the TV mode button twice again for a valid code..)
    Anyone care to give enlighten

    Frank,
Did try this, but couldn't get the remote to respond. There was a post somewhere on programming the JP1 interface with the pinouts and resistors/diodes etc needed to build the cable. I couldnt get a response from the cable I built (I buzzed out the cable and confirmed everything is soldered in correctly)
I suspect alot of programmable remotes have a 6 pin connector, whereas on the back on my dm7020 remote I have a 8 pin connector. Tried all possibilities on the connector and it didnt work. And the parallel port is enabled under bios..
I gave up in the end..

jasoni - I have played with a few jp1 remotes
but only the DM7000 one from dreambox
they all have 6 pin - I never saw one with eight
I never had much luck with parallel cable either
but the USB one jumped to life straight away - although connector goes onto remote back to front on what you would expect.

    Default Couple questions

Finally got a phoenix (Jaycar mk1) running with my 7020. Virtually straight out of the box. Thanks z80 Only thing I had to do was un-tick then re-tick the serial port.
Can the phoenix be powered by the 12vdc output or must a plug pack be used? Didn't seem too successful when I tried it, and yes I did turn the output on.

Seeing as though I'm not into CS yet, can I use a purple irdeto cam with a whitey in the CI slot? Don't really want anything external to the 7020 as it's a pain to keep disconnecting the phoenix when restarting

    Anyone been successful in viewing f*x's ch 7, 9 & 10 using a whitey?

use a plug pack mate, the 12v is only 1 amp and can just drive the 7020.

7.9.10 only on NDS cards mate.

cam and whitey works fine...just wack it in when the box is powered down.
make sure chip faces up on card.

the cams are pretty tight to go in...be careful, it might break with too much force.

Pity about 7.9.10 Found them when I used my NDS, was hoping whitey could do them too.
10 is handy now with the F1 GP as can see it much earlier than on WIN.

    Thanks again z80

not if you power the pheonix reader by the dreamboxes own USB port, my box boots, then powers the USB for the pheonix, then starts newCS so all card readers work fine. i have my 7020Si clone locked away in a cupboard with the router where it doesnt get touched

Need help changing MAC address on my 7020 clones
After I copied Gemini 4.3 over to my 1st clone from my 2nd clone (NFI method) I noticed they have the same MAC.
I tried the info in this thread with the init file but it didn't work probably because it is for DM500.

    Any ideas please
