hmm... only thing I can think of is the LNB LO setting, or if it is a uni LNB, the UEC may not like it.
Hi all,
Here is the problem, borrowed a gamma on Monday and put into my UEC990, change the dish alignment, etc.... scanned and nothing comes up. To cut a long story short, I have changed stb's and LNB's, I now have 80% signal strength but zero quality. I can see the EPG showing all the channels but i get this message E32-52 searching for signal. A mate came over with some fancy gear and confirmed I am pointing at C1.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
P.S
I have tested the card and STB at a mates place no probs. This is driving me NUTS.

Hi big mick,
i bought a brand new one same as the one before??, Like I said its driving me crazy.
same thing on the Arion 3330
Thanks anyway
If you go into the signal strength screen on the UEC it will show something like this assuming it's searching on 12407. And as Mick said, check your lnb setting.
You will have to peak the lnb skew to get maximum quality ie move to the fine tune screen.
If you cannot move to the fine tune screen, then your not getting quality.
But it sounds like you've another box there. So play with the skew.
Hi Farmsky,
with reference to step 5 on the signal detection, the satelite is listed as unknown. Does it allways tell you the satellite ? even when using a gamma? And if I am pointing at the wrong bird how come I see the channel guide wth all the stations?
Just my opinion, I could be wrong though.
I think your dish is pointed to the wrong sat. If you scan and nothing comes up that leads me to beleive your pointed at the wrong one.
Also if you are on the wrong sat you will get signal but no quality.
Just my thought.
Cheers

Hi Min ,
I suspect you and Farmsky are right, the funny thing is this has the highest signal strength of any other sat, and its at the right elevation. I always thought C1 had the highest strength?
Thanks for your input .
yes. C1 is very powerful, but, if the level is high, and the quality is zip, then something is wrong. i still reckon LNB settings are the key, but, as usual, i am probably wrong.
try some frequency of bird next door
Id try some diffrent things.
Test lnb settings;single 11300, then single 10700, then uni 9750/10600, or lo 9750 hi 10600.
If this fails chances are your on the wrong sat.
try 12487h, sr 12600, if you get sbs yourve got optus d1
try 12734v, sr 22500, if you get ert or russia today yourve got optus d2.
Hi guys,
Thank you for your comments, I got a red card from my wife so I had to pull the pin. Will try these tonight when the coast is clear.
Once again much appreciated all.
Whether there is a card in the slot or not makes no diference to tuning in the sat. YOU DO NOT need a card in the slot to tune a UEC receiver. You cant be on C1 or it would come up either Foxtel Satellite or Optus Aurora depending on the TP, card or no card. If i were you I would try aiming the dish again, u are obviously not on C1. Try to use a TP that is not also on D2 so you dont get that bird by mistake as they are very close to each other.
Yes. D2 is probably the hottest bird now.
You don't require 'a card in the slot' while tuning any receiver.
You need a bit of 'quality' (ie roughly aligned and lnb skew correct) for the 'UEC sat recognition' to work. I know it works on IS8 and C1 and D2. C1 and D2 both use identical TPs ie 12407 V 3000 2/3, so if this is set as the search channel in the UEC, it will immediately identify which bird you are on. DI uses 12407 H.
Can you tell us what the TP settings are in the UEC?
If the dish was on Pas8 (selectv) rotate the lnb about 10minutes clockwise looking into the dish as a starting point for C1.
If you have a more 'user friendly' box than the crappy old UEC, try the various settings that Global88 suggests to determine which bird you have got.
But don't forget to tweak the skew.

What I have found handy if your aligned on a sat already with good signal is to adjust dish up or down first till you just loose signal depending which direction your going L or R.
Then rotate L or R to the next sat.
Good for 1 sat at a time to get you in the ball park.
Hi Guys,
Am busting to get home to give it another go, I am now agree I must be on the wrong sat, If I am on D2 I should go left a bit more? ( thats if I am behind the dish) are they at the same elevation ??
Thanks guys again.
From behind the dish C1 is to the right of D2
Okay Guys, I am offically PISSED OFF. I have moved the dish over and relevated and all I can get is 50% but still no quality.
I have scanned 12358 + 12588 on 27800 Hor Fec 3/4 My lnb settings are
LNB power ON
LNB mode SINGLE FREQUENCY
Freq 10700 and 11300
Tone Burst Off
Farmsky I see your notes about scanning using the instructions above but I can't get the satellite name to come up. I have changed STB again and its the same thing.
also turn your lnb from 6 o clock to about 4 oclock if your facing dish from behind
Chief
Did that too chief, I think I'm about to rip the F$%King thing off the roof and use it as a frisbee.
Got a mate coming over with some equipment will see how that goes AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This is the Clarke belt from Sydney standing behind the dish looking true north. Az and el figures are on the chart.
