Advance Lane Guidance for some nice pictures of complicated freeway exits and IQ routes to calculate better routes during peak hour traffic.

Best version yet on my XL - very much appreciated! Thankyou.
no start/shut down sounds as predicted with the optimised version.
But also i lost my zoom settings feature. Is it easy to replace these two things or would i need to replace the ttsystem etc.. etc... as guided in the post above?

You can't just "copy" these features from another Navcore ...
I'm afraid the Navcore is the way it is

Can anyone help me understand why when in 'PC connect' mode i get no sat reception (no, i am not sitting inside) - just says 'demo mode' in sat reception box.
I have patched the home file (keygen 3g) sucessfully. But still no action?
Wondering also why i dont get the startup/shutdown sounds as indicated, coz they worked on other 8.14 navcore downloads i tried.
I guess that involves modding the ttsytem file to restor them? or is it not that simple? thanks.

    May interest some RE: Voices.
I could not get 'any' of the PC voices (or new downloaded ones) going on my xl330 until i replaced loquendo with vocaliser. Now it all works!

If connected to the PC the Tomtom will always be in demo mode -nothig that could be changed....
Some Navcore/device combinations won't give the startup or shutdown sounds -especially the 8.412.

Thanks i understand now, have been reading your bit on 'swicthfiles' settings, very useful. Can i ask what function the 'verison.txt' serves, is it required.
    Thanks.

You don't need the "version.txt" for normal use ,if done correctly the "setconfig.txt" is all you need.

Sure , what about the cyclic.txt? i note that every time i disconnect from PC (which i assume is soft reseting the tomtom (coz it takes ages to fire up) i get an alternate device setup. Can i tell which one i have booted into and can i get it to only boot into the one i choose, in spite of a soft reset? thanks.

If you have no idea what the files are for you should not play with them....
I posted "switchfiles for dummies" in this forum and it explains most parts of the switchfiles.
Just check what I wrote in my previous post....

Isn't that the whole point of a forum? If thats not what this place is about then i will move on.

    Cheers.

    I can follow you
But I think you can't really follow what I'm trying to say :
If you check the "switchfiles for dummies" thread you will get all the info you need for the switchfiles.
And by the way : there is no "cyclic.txt" in the config folder
If the basic knowledge is missing than it it a bit to "push" you in the right direction
I really suggest you do a bit more reading and "playing" with your device and you will notice that it is actually pretty simple to modify a Tomtom

Thankyou , i do appreciate your time. I was using the cycle.txt folder from the switch files - which is why i wanted to learm more about it. I was unable to find any greater detail about controling its influence, beyond your 'switch files for dummies' guide. Please bear in mind that some of us are new to Sat Nav - i had never used one until last week. Yes i like a challenge, but i am not 'psychic' as i recall you yourself recently remarked to someone. lol

Well , that was one reason why I said not to worry about the "cycle.txt" ...
It is only needed if you want (have) to use a different emulation from time to time.
Let's say for a long journey with a lot of tunnels you would like the x30 emulation because the day/night-switching works and otherwise you prefer the x40 ...
Without "cycle.txt" you would have to use the PC to change the setconfig.txt or the model.txt.

Downside is that this method is far from perfect as most device shut completely down after some time in suspend mode.
So most of the time you will need to do a reset to get the emulation you need.

That is ,by the way ,one reason why I posted a special version of the 9.004 without switchfiles and the possibility to change the emulations directly from the menu

    Awesome, Thanks.
BTW, there seem to be two versions of 'switch files settings'.
    - i thought they were the same and only found the first basic one.

The latter being much more expansive, and was able to work many things out for myself.

    Excellent guide!

I have a TomTom One v3 and am getting an error of 'You cannot use this map on this device: Australia-61'. This is Australia_8.30.2305plus_poi that I dowloaded from another forum on this site.

I have followed all your other instructions to the letter but seem to get stuck here.

    Regards

    Chris

Well ,the 840 is current now.
And if your Navcore is patched and the map activated correctly it will work!
You should update your map before you try more with the 830...
The new maps and the updated POI's are listed in the forum.
    Same for keygen3.1G

Thanks so much. Have got it to work now. Only issue is setconfig.txt which I am not sure what I should be updating this with.
