Why are you trying to update the setconfig.txt ?
This file tweaks your device settings and should only be changed if you know what you are doing - look into "switchfiles for dummies" (should be posted in this forum somewhere...)

Wondering also why i dont get the startup/shutdown sounds as indicated, coz they worked on other 8.14 navcore downloads i tried.

Discovered sound wont work coz audio .ogg file is corrupted in the download link. -maybe just my download.

It is only needed if you want (have) to use a different emulation from time to time.
Let's say for a long journey with a lot of tunnels you would like the x30 emulation because the day/night-switching works and otherwise you prefer the x40 ...
Without "cycle.txt" you would have to use the PC to change the setconfig.txt or the model.txt.

Downside is that this method is far from perfect as most device shut completely down after some time in suspend mode.
So most of the time you will need to do a reset to get the emulation you need.

That is ,by the way ,one reason why I posted a special version of the 9.004 without switchfiles and the possibility to change the emulations directly from the menu

BigThanks to Downunder35m for all the help.
Have now got a perfect working x30 with x40light cyclic emulation - so i can turn off the auto zooming in x40, then back into the iqxls for auto day/night switching. (this combo also gives me startup/shutdown sounds and the antitheft splash (full brightness) in one cycle, and all sound/splash 'off' in the other.

Almost perfect, but - coz my unit is a v9, a soft reset requires the power button to be held down for what seems like 30 seconds to reset. Anyone know or hear of a tomtom app (or something) to trigger a soft reset from within the unit? -or is a switchless nav 9 (if one will ever run on the x30) the only real option?

    Thanks.

I could try to make a 8.412 with emulation switching from the menu ,but I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use the computer voices and I'm not sure if it will work properly.
So you might want to stick with a working system.

They work ok for me (just tried it), just remenber to use the passoword - 'demonfatal' to open the zip.
without quotes. Check the audio .ogg files, one of mine was corrupted.

I don't even know how to download the zip file from that site

I type in the Captcha and then click the "Decrypt Link" button but nothing seems to happen, tried 2 different browsers.

What am I doing wrong ??

    Try looking with open eyes
After klicking on decrypt you will get a RS link in the box....

Maybe you should take some of your own advice (read the post above yours)

Oh and thanks for sharing your knowledge and files, I have successfully got Aussie map v840.2562 with App 8.412 working on my 32mb XL.

I agree but vice versa, got it sorted thanks.

My TomTom does not seem to turn on 100% of the time, removing the memory card seems to fix it. I can then reinsert the memory card and it will work

I need to do some more testing with this issue though.

change the model in config folder. (setconfig file). (make sure .ogg sound file is working- mine was not) If you use the moddded ttsystem, then you may need to use a cycle setup to get the sounds back. Best bet would be to hang out for a Navcore 9.
Just trial and error. Good luck.

I have been told previously in this forum not to mess with the setconfig.txt file. What model should I change it to (my model is a TomTom ONE V3)?

    Regards

You can't change the model in the setconfig.
all you can do change the emulation to simulate a different device - let's say a X40 model.
On top of that you can disable some features that you don't need to safe a bit of memory - like BT or FM.

Make a backup of your "config" folder ,keep the "switchfiles for dummies" at hand and start playing.
If worse comes to worse put your saved config folder back on the device...

With "Don't mess with your setconfig.txt I meant that you should not try changing settings in there if it is not necessary and most importand if you don't know what they are for

sorry, my mistake. Just thought i would share my experience: In cycle mode i will get different results by changing the mdoel in the setconfig.txt (.ie if i change it to x30 i will get the old mneu, but on my x30v9 if i change setconfig.txt to iqxls and cycle x40 light i get the new menu on both - with full light sound, auto dim etc) - but i guess i incorrectly assumed that any change would be effected without a cycle.

PS> i should mention that this is based upon the optimised one/xl ttsytem on page 1 - beyond that, i really could not say.

Good Day! I have downloaded this Navcore and it is perfect, but just the English Text-to-Speech Voice is working. The other language like German is not working! Does someone has the german "Katrin" and "Stefan" in the same format like the English Voices? Please help me, thanks.

    Note: I´m from Germany

Extract your .cab voice in the folder called "LoquendoTTS" in the root.
Then overwrite your "LoquendoTTS" folder with this file:

Credits go to demonfatal for the files!
By the way : you might be interested to know that I will open up a new German GPS forum in the next couple of days
